What has happened to respect?

Do you think that people have forgotten about even basic respect? I do and I hate it even though Im only fifteen. I hate the way people treat eachother where I live.

It is very true what you say, not many people have respect for anyone or anything anymore... Come to think of it, it's not just kids, but i believe that it's ALWAYS down to the parenting, you obviously come from a good family, but i suppose others aren't so lucky...

Value respect despite society. It's worth it. If nothing else, you will gain more respect for yourself. If you carry yourself with deignity and respect, people will notice.

Respect is still alive in much of the south. General courtesy is alive too. I hope you get the chance to go someplace like Nashville. People make room for you in traffic. Strangers in public are usually polite. You see it even in the country music stars. For the most part, they carry a sense of humility and public duty. Look into how Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, and Alan Jackson carry themselves. They demostrate respect.

you must be good boy, believe me , when I was your age and younger I saw alot worse too, Im 21 now

so really kids or people are always bad, but you always be good,
I always kept being good even though I went to a bad school , Im still the person in me, and shows everything wehn you grow up , and people will love you , so when your a big man alot of people will respect you because you have respect and those that dont never achieve anything in life and you see how bad there lives are , just smoking swearing , nothing its good to here a boy like your age to disapprove these things good on you lad , keeo it up

Nothing has happened to respect, its the people that choose to ignore it. But you cant blame them, it seems that in this world only greed, rudeness and inconsideration are celebrated. If you are kind and respectful it is seen as weak. So those people that choose to ignore respect are just victims of this lost society. So continue respecting people even though you will be mocked. It means you are free.

You are the crowning glory of your mom! It shows you have had good upbringing. The problem is that people only worry about themselves,... what's in it for me?..... how can I get my way?..... It's sad and frustrating. But, I think kids like you can turn this around. You treat people with respect no matter how you are treated. Remember when you are a dad, teach your kids respect for others.

respect has went out the window! I give respect and expect back in return. However, there are times that people do not respect me at all and I refuse to give them any respect at all. I have learned to not associate myself with those types of people, but i still have my manners and I am civil to them. Unfortunately many people have forgotten the words manners and respect.

Fortunately I think that there is still a lot of respect doing the rounds. Perhaps amongst young people there is less, but believe me as people get older they become more respectful. I'm 76 so I should know.

Yes, unfortunately common courtesy and respect for others has given way to a me-first mentality in this day and age. Many people today are mean, rude, disrespectful and incosiderate of others. In the Bible you'll see this was prophesied in the book of second Timothy.
