yes, some states have what they consider to be a public school that you do online. I know Ohio has one, and other states, but I was looking for connecticut

The two main providers of free online schools or virtual schools are K12 and Connections Academy. Unfortunately neither has a school in Connecticut. Some states have legislation actually prohibiting virtual charter schools. You might check the Connecticut state board of education site and see if that is the case. You might have some lobbying to do - an education in and of itself.

However, here is a list of free online highschool courses and curriculum. http://www.hoagiesgifted.org/online_hs.htm
You would have to choose your courses and keep your own transcript. Check out your state's homeschool laws at www.hslda.org to see what is required.
Good luck! You can do high school for very little money but it is going to take a lot of ingenuity and time spent in research.

Zoe, are you totally set on having a public-school based like homeschool? There is absolutely nothing wrong with that, it works great for many people but unless your state has a free state virtual program, almost any other thing will cost you at least something.

I hope you find what you're looking for but if not, you can checkout http://amblesideonline.org and they have free curriculum guidelines, lesson plans, etc. and many of the books can be read online for free. Whether you're a Christian or not an excellent liberal education can be given to your daughter via Ambleside.
