Yes, in theory, but often not in reality.

In the community where I currently live, the development is thundering on at break-neck speed, and my husband and I moved out here three years ago because it was so pleasant and rural then! The one factor driving the development is $$$$$!!

However, we can develop in an Eco-friendly way. We can develop communities which are small and village-like with shops within walking distance of houses rather than sprawling housing estates. We can develop in a way which is convenient for public transport, with schools near to the houses and jobs near to the schools.

There are many ways that we could take nature into account, but more often than not, we don't.

Provocative question.

Human beings are the only species that has the intellect and the power to make itself extinct.Mahatma Gandhi said to the effect that the earth has enough for every body's need but not greed. ( Mind you the thought is his , not the words , contrary to what many websites say.)
It is indeed possible to have development without destroying nature and ourselves, but such a development will necessarily be slow.

yes it can be possible.because if we use the natural recourse's in sustainable ways we can save them for the next generations.for example if we need of wood for our development purposes.u can use them.but one thing which we remember that if we cut the tree we can grow them in the same amount.in this way we will be able to make development without destroying the nature.

sustainable development - yes; sustainable growth no.

do you mean without destroying human nature? It seems to be human nature to want greedy irresponsible lifestyles; any sustainable development will require changing our lifetyles and beliefs, power structures etc, ie changing our nature is a pre-cursor to developing in a life-sustaining life-style.

No. Human nature is destructive. Development is constructive. The two are mutually exclusive.
