Don't listen to this kill them with kindness crap because those people don't have nasty neighbors. It doesn't work. So don't do anything overboard ,just stare at them. If they are out in their yard, stare at them. Pretend that they are the best t.v. show in the world. But don't go looking in there windows. What are they going to do call the police and say "he's looking at me?" If they know the police then they don't need a good reason to harass you. They just call them up and their good buddy will be down in a second. If you have the money put up a fence. A nice big fence.

Why don't you get some type of mediator and have a talk with the neighbors. Find out why they are doing what they are doing.
Maybe you can come to some sort of agreement about what you are doing that is setting them off. If you and they can come to any kind of agreement and the two of you are willing to work out the problems, then your life would be a whole lot easier.

If that doesn't work, then you could try a restraining order of some type. At least that way, if you end up in court you can tell the judge that you have tried every avenue and they do not want to cooperate.

Good Luck.

You make no mention of why they called the cops. If you really are totally innocent then don't worry about it. Tell them very firmly that they make not call your work place. Tell them your boss is unhappy with amount of personal calls you've been taking and you don't want to risk losing your job. And trying to get even won't solve anything. You need to resolve your conflicts or at least find a way to ignore each other.

Kill them with kindness, like leaving homemade cookies on their porch with a nice note, even invite them over for drinks or something. Not that they'll accept, but it shows good intent and an effort to a future judge. Then I'd make sure I got a copy of the police reports, have your boss document their harassment at work (trust me - he or she isn't liking it either), and get all your ducks in a row. Then the next time they harass you take them to court - take the bull by the horns and ask for a restraining order. Put THEM in the hot seat. You can say to the judge with all honesty that you've tried being neighborly but they won't stop harassing you. Really, good luck. I did this once and it worked out pretty good. All I had to put up with after that was dirty looks.

Personally I would annoy the SH@# out of them. I would play LOUD music and piss them off even more. That way when you do stop doing this they will appreciate it and stop harrasing you.

You can always take the ruthless approach and start calling the cops on them for no good reason start calling their work and do the same thing.

An eye for an eye right?

Or you can take the civil approach and tell them to calm the Freak down before they get a beat down!

Put a big rusting washing machine and old car chassis on the front lawn. It'll drive'em nuts that you may be bringing down property values, but they will also have to do some legal wrangling to get you to move them.

Failing that, find something they're deathly allergic to and plant a whole garden of it.

Have your car alarm go off at 2am, but make sure it stops before they see where it is coming from.

Drop some of your junk mail in their mailbox everyday. They will think the mailman is just confused.

Erect a privacy fence about 10' into your yard and put all your junk on their side of it (this is what my neighbors have done, but not to get back at me for anything - thanks, you don't have look at your sh*t but I do?).

Hold large gatherings all the time so that your friends' cars are parked up and down the street.

Give their kids candy and soda just before they have to go in for the night.

I guess you could file a complaint and get a restraining order if they're harassing you at your job. Document everything and don't do anything to them not so much as a dirty look.

Oh yeah, and see if your co-workers will act as witnesses for their harassment. The best way is the legal way.

Don't try to get back at them. That only makes the problem worse. You can't control how they act, but you can definitely control your own behavior. Be an example of a good neighbor.

I know this is hard, but think about who's causing the problem. Do they have a legitimate gripe about you? Do they hate your wind chimes, for example, or do they have small children and you play loud music after 10 pm? Getting along with your neighbors can sometimes take a real effort, but being enemies with them can poison your whole life. Think long and hard before you declare all-out war...you may be very sorry you did.
