It is a little known fact that the "1 in 5" statistic has been around for some time. The first know instance of the rule being observed was by medieval monk Brother Thomas Pinkerton who observed that statistically, one in about 6 children exhibits Oriental features. Shortly thereafter, the short-lived Holy Roman Empire Regus Maximus decreed that physicians should remove these children at birth and substitute babies with European features.
Fortunately, the reining Chinese emperor at that time had a delegation at the Holy Roman Emperor's court and, seeing a quick way to unload some of the numerous "butt-ugly S.O.B.s" as the Chinese called the non-Chinese, set up the child-swap where a 5 for one exchange would be made with children.
Happily, the Chinese have never forgotten this program and today all babies with European characteristics are shipped C.O.D to Europe and North America where they are placed in loving homes. The other children are sent to China where they are happily referred to in translation as "normal children"
