There is sticky sheets that look like stain glass, you could put that on the door maybe. Or go to the fabric store and pick out something you really like that is a heavy pattern, sew the top and bottom ends in to form a rod pocket and put a rod and the top and bottom of the door.Use a thick ribben to tie them in the middle.

If it has the criss cross leading, try using glass paints to colour in the diamond shapes in a pattern (you can buy a whole assortment of colours at DIV or craft shops, nail varnish makes good glass paint!). This will give it a stained glass effect and is easy to do. It will let the light in pour in, stop nosey neighbours and it casts a wonderful light into the room.

Lace curtains with rods at the top and the bottom look so charming on french doors and provide both privacy and light. The added accent of a grapevine wreath hung on each door on top of the curtain adds to the charm if you like the cottage look.

Replacing each pane of glass with appropriately sized stained glass panels creates a radically different look. Another thing that changes the look is a large scale etched glass pattern that covers the entire door or det of doors.
