i just brought home a 6 week old kitten last friday. yesterday we discovered she has fleas. we bathed her and combed her and we found and killed about 20 fleas. adult and babies. she has been mostly confined to the bathroom. but she had still had run of the house before we discovered the fleas. what are the chances of there being eggs all over? i also have 2 other cats to whom i just applied some flea killing stuff, but the baby is too young for it. what else can i do to ensure i rid my home of fleas and flea eggs, besides laundry and vacuuming? and will i be able to spot flea eggs on my bedding and furniture?

i called the vet and they said she was too young for any kind of flea medications / baths or anything else of the sort.

I battled fleas for years, until they came out with Advantage. After a couple of months the fleas will be gone from the cats and the house. Don't know if you can use it on the kitten, though, maybe just the adult cats. Check with your vet.

If there are flea eggs, you should try and vacuuming, but likely what will happen is that any fleas left will try and bite the cats and won't be able to and they will die out or leave. As soon as the kitten is old enough it should get flea medication as well, and you might want to leave the other cats on it for a couple months, but after that you should be fine.
Flea eggs are tiny, like dirt and so you won't be able to spot them.

I highly suggest buying Frontline. It's not too expensive, but it works wonders. You just put it in the hairline at the back of your cat's neck. If there's fleas on your cat, then there's probably fleas on your carpet, so you might want to go to your vet or local pet store and get some flea spray for your carpet as well because there's a chance that there's fleas and eggs in your carpet.

You're on the right track. Take your kitten to the vet and they will give her a professional flea bath. You may also want to think about Fogging your house with a flea killing fogger(you'll have to have somewhere for your and your kitties to stay for about 24-72 hours. When you take your kitten to the vet for it's flea bath, ask them for best products.

You could take him to the vet and get him deflead. You can hire someone to come to you house while the cat is at the vets and spray the house. It is much cheaper then buying foggers and doing it yourself. They also will guarantee that if you have a flea in the future they will come back and flea your house again for free.
The best product for when the kitten is old enough is Advantage. You can get it at your vets or at petmeds online.

Take her to the vet. They'll probably give her Frontline or Advantage for her fleas. It goes by how much the animal weighs, not their age. Then get her out of your house and fumigate it.

A cheap way is to take a pan, like a cake pan and put a little bit of soapy water in the bottom, then take a florissant light, (we used one that is long, like a black light) and put it over the pan of water. When you wake up you will find alot of fleas in the water. The florissant light attracts them. Im sure it wont take care of your problem all together but it should be alot of help!

Frequent baths often discourage fleas. You also might try changing clothes more often.
