First respect because you must be able to respect one another to have a strong relationship. Second understanding, third trust because without trust you have nothing, then love.

respect, cause you can respect someone with out really caring about them. That brings understanding to the relationship. Then trust, cause then you know what you've got is real, then love. That's where is should end. But I think if I am just meeting a guy for the first time, like a blind date, or someone new, it all starts with respect, cause without that, he's not going to be very LOVable or TRUSTworthy, cause I wouldn't UNDERSTAND how he'd treat me otherwise.

i think the most important thing in a relationship is friendship, without friendship you cant have love, without love you cant have respect, without respect you wont have trust and without trust u wont have understanding. You can never choose just one thing to be the most important hing in a relationship, because without any of those four elements you will have nothing and if u have one and u love a person enough the rest will be there automatically

I believe respect must come first. Love develops out of the respect you have for each other? Without it, I really don't care to trust them, or bother to understand them.

In my opinion Trust should come first. Without trust you have no real basis for a relationship. After Trust I believe Communication would be next for me. Without open lines of communication in any relationship things can go wrong. If you can't communicate in the right ways then you can't get your needs met and you won't know or understand how to meet your partners needs.
