We're both 18, & it is our first year at college. My parents won't let me spend the night at his college, & i was trying to be honest about it with them. How can i make them see my side of things?

Just post them this question:
Would they rather have you tell them that you are spending a night at your bf's room, or have them find out about it through the neighbour or the internet?

If they are smart enough, they should get the idea. After all, we're in 2006. Being protective is one thing, but the old ways of parenting don't really work on the children of today anymore and they should accept the facts and be more open abt it.

Good luck!

Ok.. let me get this straight. You are 18. You are of legal age. You are in college and live away from home or do you live at home and attend locally?

Is it that they believe that you might have pre-marital sex and not approve of that or is it that they just don't like the guy? If you live at home and you go to see him overnight, will they demand that you leave?

I would just outright ask them what their objections are... they may or may not have a good reason.

I do not know that you could make them see your side. They're side is ..your 18 in College.(who's paying for this?).you have your whole life ahead of you.(i'm not saying this guy is bad or anything like that) I really figure they just want the best for you..Hope everything works out..

Me thinks they feel it would be a very bad idea, sex wise, for the two of you but they should realize that no matter where you go to school there will be guys and gals.
They are just trying to protect their daughter and don't really want to let go yet.
Think about it-some day you will be in their shoes.

if you're still living at home in my opinion.. their rules apply. doesn't matter if you're 18 (unless you pay them rent)

Tell them that you want to be honest with them, and not lie and say you're going to a girlfriends just to go see him. Maybe he can stay at your place. something like that.

BTW i'm only 20 so don't think the top part is from some jaded old fogey.

That's rediculous you're 18 and in college you should just do what you want. You two will end up breaking up if you don't spend time together.
