I think it is March. It is still summer, but the crowed are returned to their places and the places are much more accesibles in every sense including economic.

I had made two tours in that time from Viña del Mar in the central coast until Chiloe (at the south of Chile) with two different Europeans families and we all had a very good time.

depends on what part of chile if you want to visit patagonia you should go around december but if you want to go somewhere more in the north it doesn't really matter its always good.
The great thing about chile is that it covers many degrees of latitude and altitude allowing paradise at least somewhere all of the time.

It depends on what you want to do - June-Augsut is great for skiing.
