Doesn't sound to peaceful to me. Ignorant people of the world, understand this. Islam is NOT a peaceful religion. It is a religion of violence. Are you aware that Muslims are charged with one of three things upon encountering "infidels" (non-believers): Attempt to convert them (this is okay). If they don't convert, subjigate and tax them (not really peaceful). If they still don't convert, KILL THEM (does this sound like "peaceful" to you)?

islam is NOT peaceful,
First of all those weren't the Pope's own words opinion,
he was quoting 14th century Byzantine emperor, Manuel II Paleogus,
secondly,
can we deny that Muslims have never ever incited violence,
Al Quada and all are a living example,
Muslims are jsut a whole lot insecure and sensitive bout their religion,
if they want Muslims to do well in the Christian world, they would first have to give equal freedom to christians in the Muslim world,
as simple as that.
Basically Islam just INCITES Violence.
it's still in then DARK AGES and feels they can say anything bout others no one can point out to them,
why do they feel so and act so vioelently on hearing the truth???

The Pope beleives in peace, and NoTE in his speech at the Regensburg University he was tlaking about faith and reasonable and how violence was soemthing unreasonable.
He was tlaking bout Inter-Faith Dialogue.

PLEASE NOTE I have no personal intention of hurting the sentiments of anybody, this was my personal opinion, ONLY MINE, I apologize in advance (but don't retrac tmy way of thinking, my words) if this has hurt you and also deeply remorsely for the hereafter conseuquences,

My cousin and I were having this very same discussion the other day. I understand that people can get upset about someone insulting their religion, but there is a right and a wrong way to handle things. The pope basically did say that Muhammad encouraged violence. Their response is to start bombing buildings and setting fires and hurting, even killing people. Yet, they are suppose to be proving the pope was wrong in what he said? There were more peaceful ways to protest that pope's comments. Then, the worst thing is that their actions spoke way louder than his words. Another bad thing is that not all Muslims are this way using violence and killing/terrorizing, but they have to deal with this negative light on their religion that they share with these men who seek to harm others.

If you look carefully at what the Pope said, he didn't recant anything, and he apologized for the reactions, not for what he said. Whether or not the Pope knew what the reaction would be is a matter for debate, but the fact is the Pope wants to point out to the Muslem leaders that violence is contrary to God, and the Pope has to be very careful not to aggravate the genocide being done by Islamic governments, especially Sudan.

what are ur sources??

Islam itself is a peaceful religion. Some Muslims are peaceful and some are not, just like some Christians are peaceful and some are not.

you shouldn't look at Islam as the few extremists that burn churches or blow up places, extremists are found in every religion. from the millions of Muslims around the world, y r u concentrating on the extremists?

if we talk about statistics, the Muslim nations have less sexual assault, child abuse, murder, robberies...etc. than the west

about the pope, he insulted a prophet...even if u don't believe in him, u should respect the ppl who do. if anybody insulted Jesus, wouldn't u be angry? i'm with u that burning churches and all of that is wrong but expressing anger isn't

finally, i would just like to say that Muslims don't kill ppl cuz they didn't convert to Islam. every person has the right to choose his/her religion and we all know there has to be one correct religion since there is one God and we all try to prove that our religion is the one but we don't kill ppl if they don't believe it

About Peace : Yes , it is a very very peaceful religion
When non muslims live in a country ruled by muslims , the have rights to everything just like muslims, but they have to pay taxes for the peoptection the muslim army is providing for them . They are NOT to be killed under any conditions , except being allies with the enemies of muslims , they have the right to pray and practise their religion freely.
Mhammed ( p b u h ) , when he entered Mecca victourious after many years of being tortured with his belivers by the people of Mecca , the people of Mecca thought he will punish them for what they did to him , he asked him : what do you think I'll do with you ? they replied : A generous brother and the son the son of a generous brother . He said : You are free to go
and he did nothing to them
That's what history says and that's what Quran teaches us

AS I uderstand it, it is not the religion that is calling for this violence.

There is something called Shar'ia law, which is man's laws derived from the Quran. It is bastardized by man, made into law. But it is not preached by the religion.

Besides, the pope is a fool for quoting a passage that refers to Islam as evil and inhuman. How would he react if Muslims refered to his religion in this way?

Even if the religion itself is peaceful, the followers are not. Some of them are barbaric uncivilized people that will kill people just to have different oppinions with them. Do you want to live with these guys? I guess not, not in million years. It's better for me to enjoy peacefull live deep in the forest (but with broadband and cable TV).
One thing for sure, THE POPE IS RIGHT!
They prove his point by what they doing themself, how stupid.

I wish I knew. Granted, we are getting a media spin and it could literally be the same crowd shown in every shot from different angels.

I wish a MUSLIM who doesn't agree with the POPE or the CARNAGE would give an opinion.

Why did that NUN DIE???????? Why can't I question Mohamed without fear of my life?

No, it's not peaceful.

The Pope read something from the 1300's and it has upset the radical Muslims. I respect the Pope's place in Catholicism, I don't agree with his tactics.

However, if you knew the tactics Muhammad used, you'd know why the Pope from the 1300's said what he said. Research him and you will see for yourself from history itself.

Islam was modeled from the "Crusades." Muslims swept through the Middle East and Northern Africa killing Jews and Christians...(all) that wouldn't convert.

The radicals are the ones that are not peaceful. They are angry and violent. Shooting a nun in the back is NOT peaceful. One, she was UNARMED and two, she's a nun for goodness sakes.

Jesus told Peter, those that live by the sword, die by the sword.

Grace to all!
