Weekdays are always cheaper than weekends.
Hawaiian Airlines which usually has the lowest fares anyway shows the fares and availability for an entire week at a time.

If you're travelling west, you are gaining daylight. The return flight is probably more critical for Americans, especially east coast Americans. You'll loose a day. Arrive home on a Friday or Saturday so you'll have a day to recover. Jet lag is a real bummer.

Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for two reasons:
a) less expensive air fare
b) airport isn't as crowded with travelers as it is on the other days of the week.
