Yes I love The Dog Whisperer!, My dog holli will be on the show Octobder 30th in her sidecar. He has worked wonders for our crippled dog, we hired many physical therapists and trainers and none of them have come close to getting her to use her crippled leg like Caesar has. We saw his seminar last weekend, he was great and is sooo funny. I dont know about the other dogs he has worked with but it definetely has worked for our dog not to mention my boyfriend has worked hard with her, with Caesars instruction.

I have seen it only a few times when away from home or on tape(don't get the channel). I think it's really important for the average dog owner to know that this is edited - you are not seeing everything that Cesar does. What appears to happen in a minute's time may actually take 30 minutes of training. And remember, the show says repeatedly to not try these things yourself, consult a professional.
Cesar's methods are ssoooooo outdated! His philosophy may be right sometimes, but his techniques make me cringe. So often the dog is simply shut down and not reacting because he has learned that reacting brings punishment. But Cesar plays it off as if the dog is "cured." An absence of aggressive behavior does not mean all is okay! Why not teach the dog to enjoy what ever it used to dislike rather than to just suffer through it to avoid punishment?

just responding to chetcos statements; so what type of training would you suggest? Just be the Omega in the pack as the homeowner?? I don't think so. Cesars points come right out of dog psychology, notr human psychology. For some people, they simply SHOULD NOT own a dog period. Cesars techniques make for a happier dog because dogs do needs rules boundaries and limitations. If an owner is incapable of that and the dog is running there life no matter how much training adivce they get then they need to give their dog to a better owner. Cesar does not teach people how to make their dog be winners in the show circle, champion at weightpull or excel at schutzhund. His methods are for basic everyday living with a dog and if you ever need proof that it works visit his center. I would like to see an AKC handler walk 30 dogs made up of pitbulls, german shepherds and rotties (mostly from bad situations and shelters!). I have used techniques like Cesars for over 40 years as a foundation to how my yard operates. It has worked wonderfully and for dogs with potential I have even trained them in SchH and weightpull. But Cesars basic techniques keep my yard going day to day and everything stays in balance.

The few shows I saw showed the standard old techniques BUT he presented them as brand new positive training technques (they were NOT- ) and yeah an experienced trainer can SEE gaps where they clearly edidited a lotta training.
To be blunt this show is no subistitute for a class who's instructor can show you things (and thousands of insturctors are just as good as Ceasar).
Problem is also that as with any method extreams can lead to abuse.

His message is a good one, that the owner must be the pack leader.. However, his methods are harsh and dangerous...
All dog trainers and behaviorists can learn from each other..And I have learned a few tips from Cesar Milan..However, I reject many of his methods...Dominance training, the way he does it can be very dangerous....When you train a dog with dominance techniques, you are creating an issue of 'might makes right' attitude..those are the same dogs that will progress to" Well, I am a big boy now..the master is sleeping..I bet that I can be the dominant one, if only I can whip/dominate the master'...The attitude is what leads to dogs attacking their master..
Now, he is leaving this time bomb with the same owners that have been unable to be pack leader in the past..and expecting them to change overnight into a domamant person? Just by mimiicing his methods? Not gonna happen..Followups on his projects/clients show that most of them are right back where they were in a very short time..

I LOVE Cesar Milan. He's AWESOME!!! If I hadn't already pledged my undying allegiance to Stephen Colbert and bought www.stephencolbertisgod.com, I would buy www.cesarmilanisgod.com. Maybe you should if Oprah hasn't already. I hate Oprah. She's a stupid *****. I own www.oprahisastupidbitch.com, too.
