I always thought Tua would be a world champion. I'd actually picked him to beat Lenox Lewis but he got spanked. I wonder what happened after that defeat? did he lose his drive to become champ? He has the name and the power to do it, and with the heavyweight division being what it is today, he could easily be champ. What's going on with Tua? And would you pick him over any of the soviet champs that reign right now?

after losing to lewis, he next defeated danell nicholson, which set up a title fight with chris byrd. he lost to by unanimous decision to byrd. he had several good showings afterwards, including KO victories over fres oquendo, micheal moorer, and a draw with rahman. however, he has only fought only 3 times since march of 2003. there were some trainer issues (he is very stubborn, and lazy in training), and spent almost all of 2005 and early 2006 in a legal battle with his manager. as he is getting older, it's gonna take even more desire to train and get in the kind of shape to be a top-notch heavyweight. since there are few (or zero) top-notch heavyweights right now, that certainly helps his predicament. as far as against the current champs, he has already beaten oleg maskaev by KO, but that was back in like 97 or 98. rahman is still considered among the better heavyweights, and he has KO'd rahman and fought to a draw with him. tua does have some skills, and i imagine if he came in decent shape he'd beat Valuev, which certainly lacks in the skills category.

The problem with Tua is that he was a one punch fighter , I mean he only has a left hook , how hard is that to defend if you always know it is coming, that's why against solid fighters he did not do to well , Unfortunately he does not have the skill to beat those Soviet fighters , but who knows he could get a lucky punch in , It wouldn't be the first time .

Tua needs to be more disciplined. He works hard, but not hard enough. Anything is possible and if he really wants a shot at the title he'll do whatever it takes to get himself there. I just don't think he has it in him anymore.

Tua has probably never ran anywhere in his life - the only thing he'll make a run at is the all you can eat buffet

I think if he is as good as he was, he has every chance of succeeding in his ambition against a poor group of heavyweight champions.

With the sad state of affairs in the Hwy division, he has a punchers chance against any of those turkeys.
