Don't think about it so much. You'll be great. Good Luck.

Do try deep breathing right before the interview.

Before that, make sure you go to the site with plenty of time. You don't want to actually go in more than 15 minutes early, but you don't want to be late or stressed. (You can find a coffee shop or something nearby.)

Go over your own resume - what experiences do you have that make you qualified for this position? Practice asking & and answering the "standard" questions. (There is even a thing on Monster to help!)

How do you explain the gap in your employment? (Don't address this first, but do address this.)Were you fortunate enough to be able to stay home after a baby? Were you exploring your entrepenurial side by working from home? Were you taking classes?

Make sure you know something about the company you are interviewing with. Why do you want to work there? (DO NOT say that you just need a job!) Find out what makes them interesting. Are they a market leader? Have they been around for 10+ years? Are they a new, small company with room to grow? It only takes a few minutes online to find out so much!

Hang in there and do your best. Even if this doesn't work out for you, every interview is a learning experience.

Best of luck!!!

Oh, another thought - if you know someone who has done interviewing and you have time, ask them to "mock" interview you - even over the phone. It's surprising how much a little practice helps!

Find yourself a quiet half-hour and sit (or lie) back and imagine the interview in every possible detail going exceptionally well for you. Do this regularly. When you are doing so breathe deeply and slowly. Think positively.
Also, prepare well for the interview - what questions could they possibly ask? Find out about the company? Think up a few questions that you need to ask.
Whatever you do - don't take anything to calm your nerves like alcohol or medication. Nerves focused correctly can help a situation.
I hope you do okay. The best of luck to you.

Just plan on being upfront and telling the truth: You have applied for the job, which you are qualified for, because you have been out of the industry for 3 years and are feeling rusty.

Dress appropriately for the interview & get a good night's sleep the night before. You can do everything "right" and they still may not hire you. Just put your best foot forward, be friendly & pleasant. The person interviewing you is just that--another person, not god.

Just decide what the worst case senerio is, and come to terms with that.

You dont get the job. Okay, so you get a different one. Life really does go on.

You might be rusty, but youre a quick learner, and you're an asset to any company, if they choose not to see that then its their loss and doesnt change you in anyway.

What people want most is confidence. So go in there, dont make excuses for yourself, and expect to get the job.

Fear of rejection and disapointment is what makes someone nervous. Jsut as much as a lack of confidence and second guessing.

You'll be fine.

Rehearse for your interview.
Find out what you can about the job and the company.
Then do the "match game". Anticipate what their needs are. Then match your experience and abilities to their needs.
Rehearse answers to anticipated questions.
This should give you a good measure of confidence and help you with the jitters. Don't take some kind of sedative, they'll notice. Everyone has the jitters on an interview. They know that. Just go in with the atitude that you want to help them solve their problem. Show them you can contribute to their cause, give examples. Try it, it works.

Take a deep breath and relax. Skip the alcohol and drugs, those can only spell disaster. Pick out an outfit that is professional but that makes you feel beautiful and confident. When you look good, you feel good. Instead of focusing on the interview, picture yourself in a corner office of the company with all the interviewers bowing down to you. That always works for me. Good Luck!

try to prepare yourself as much as possible for this interview - the more prepared you are the more relaxed you will be - other than that try to busy yourself with other things that way you won't sit there and constantly think about the interview because the less you think about it the less you will stress about it - try to take nice slow calming breaths, drink a nice cup of tea and curl up with a good book or to watch a good movie just to keep your mind off of the interview or go out and do something fun - come to think of it I should be taking my own advice to keep my mind off of my medic exams that are on Thursday - yikes!!!

Definitely do not have a drink as someone has suggested don't think it would go down well if potential employers smelt alcohol on your breath!!!
Try BACH FLOWER RESCUE REMEDY
Yes I do know it has grape alcohol in it but you only use the minutest amount on your tongue or you can dilute in a small bottle of water to sip while you are waiting to be interviewed, it really works wonders, I have also used it on one of my dogs before Firework night and it calms him down.
Good luck with the interview!!

Forget about the boss being the boss, He or she is employed to interview you, but he or she is still a human being. Just remember when you have had a bad experience in the past, and then think - HEY! why should I have to worry about something I can't fix. Your credentials are all they want to see. Not who or what you are. GO GET EM!!!!!
and GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Remember basically it is an INTERVIEW. You are seeing if you want to work for them as much as them seeing if they want to employ you. Do not undersell yourself as you are doing.
Simply try to be your usual pleasant self so they see you not simply your qualifications.
Be discrete but neat in your clothing. For guys shave before the interview for girls wear a skirt that you do not have to keep tugging down for example. Think positive.
If you do not like your interviewer give them hell!
I once interviewed a guy who said he wanted to do as little work as possible for the maximum amount of money - I referred him to our Marketing department.
Relax!
