This is the government mandated website where you can get 1 free credit report from the 3 agencies for free in one year:

http://www.annualcreditreport.com

This is FREE - as in totally free. Not freecreditreport.com where they dangle you the "free credit report" but you have to leave your credit card info because the report is free only if you subscribe to their credit monitoring service. Annualcreditreport.com WILL NOT even ask you for your credit card

The federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires that U.S. consumers be entitled to a free credit report each year. The government’s goal is to make sure that consumers stay informed, fight identity theft, and get fair treatment.

freecreditreport.com, I believe almost all states allow you to get a credit report from the 3 main credit bureaus (Transunion, Equifax and Experian)
