Many people don't think about what they say when they go out to eat.

Yet when you are visiting another country you can't use your native language.

Stop and think about phrases that you couldn't live without.

If you are speaking English as a Second Language, what are phrases that you think are very important.

Please tell me any websites that might some ideas too.

Table for (2, 3, 4, etc) people, please.
I would like the (your menu choice), please.
Excuse me, could I have (another napkin, more water, etc), please.
Check (the bill), please.

Also, American waiters will expect a tip (that is not included in the calculation of your bill, as in most other countries). 20% of the total amount (before the tax is added, usually) should be left in cash on the table or added to the credit card total.

"We are ready to order now."
"What wine would you recommend?"
"May I have the check please?"
"Everything has been delicious, thank you."
(as your going out, say to the host) "Thank you for everything, have a nice evening."

In america, it is customary to leave 15-20% tip. unlike many countries, gratuity is not included with the meal.

but remember the specials are ussally the food they are trying to get rid of before it goes bad
