You have a few options. First , remove anything that you do not want them to chew, toys, shoes, etc and put them up high or in a closet. Second, Give them a "Kong" full of food or treats that they can work until then are tired or get the treat. Kong's are great because you can stuff them and it can take the dog some time to get the treats. Third, put them in an area of your house or yard where they can have their den and fill it with their toys to keep them busy. Last, my dog did very well when we were gone and I think it was partly because we left the radio on with classical music which helped keep her calm.

Does she have lots of toys to keep her entertained while you're gone? Nylabones are supposed to be good. My dogs like Greenies also. They keep them busy for a little while. Also, you can shut the doors to any rooms, just leaving her to play in the kitchen/living room/etc. Don't lock her in a small room though, because then she'll really get into trouble. Also, is she a puppy? I think that dogs get into trouble a lot until they're a couple years old. Another thing you could try is turning on the TV or radio. I heard that they feel more comfortable if there are human voices. I tried this with my dogs, but unfortunately it didn't work. It's worth a shot though.

I've always used a kennel or pet carrier (plenty big enough for your dog, of course). Anytime I'm not going to be home she goes into her pet carrier which has a blanket for her to lay on, a small bowl of water and a few chew toys. Not only does this help prevent her from chewing up all my stuff, it's a great technique to use for house training! Hope that helps!

my dog use to chew library books, ink pens, MY EYE GLASSES!!, candles, you name it, she chewed it!! I had to start putting her in a crate when I left the house. now, on occasion if I have to run up to the corner store, I will leave her in the kitchen, but no longer than 10 minutes and I give her a treat before I leave and tell her to be a good girl, so far she is learning.. good luck

If she is young then it is just a stage. Make sure she has plenty of chew toys. Is she in a crate, if she is a puppy you may want to take this route? There is also sour spray you can put on things that she consistently chews.

You need to put her in a crate and give her a bone to chew on. Chewing is the way they relieve anxiety.

She is board. You need to give her an activity of some sort. You also might want to consider crate training. Someone mentioned "greenies". They have a few good things in them but the risk of intestinal blockage is sever. I would never give a 'greenie' to a dog.

confine him when your not home with appropriate chew toys. the key to prevent him from chewing your stuff is not to allow him anywhere near them.

take it for a walk before you leave and don't make a big deal out of entering and exiting your home.
