Do you mean monopoly as the one Christians feel they have on spirituality? I don't think atheists feel that way about evolution. It's just that if people are going to distort the theory to serve their own purposes, anyone intelligent will feel the need to make the necessary corrections.

Because it seems the theists that accept the Evolution Theory are few and far between--and less vocal. I know they exist because many of them are friends. But you have to admit, there are fewer Atheists that believe in Intelligent Design than Christians that accept the Theory of Evolution.

Sounds like you don't know too many atheists. We think evolution is for everybody, end of story. You know perfectly well that bashing evolution (and science in general) is the business of religious zealots - of both the Islamic & Christian variety, I might add. Just substitute the word "Christians" where you have "atheists" and you'll have a coherent question.

I dont think it is like that. You rarely hear Christians going with evolution although some certainly do, is all. Most often it is religion trying to ban the learning of evolution or trying to force a novel, yet ridiculous, creation theory into science classes.

I don't think they do. I think people tend to generalize a lot on here. Also, because there have been many Christians here who ask questions tended to refute evolution or in answers indicate they think evolution is against God. It is one of the more frequent topics. Anyway, I think Christianity and evolution are not at all mutually exclusive ideas, depends on your version of Christianity though.

Simply put, the Christian fundies believe that the earth is no more than 5000 years old and is the result of divine creation. This trashes scientific evidence to the contrary. Consequently, if you are shown a fossil that predates the Christian notion of the earth's age, there is no amount of mental gymnastics that can make scientific evidence and Christian myth coexist.

We don't. Its just that the moronic creationists are more vocal. If I was a christian I would be embarrassed by them. Their rejection of known science and reality makes the rest of you look bad. Them and the hateful christians who carry signs saying "God Hates Fags" and "Bomb Muslims". We atheists need to remember that there are also christians who accept science and are not filled with such extreme hate, but are perhaps not as loud or as numerous as the others.

because evolution contradicts Genesis...
Genesis is a part of the Bible..
and the Bible is what the Christians follow..
but yeah, I really don't care. More people that believe in evolution, thats a good thing.

What? Some xians are the ones saying that evolution doesn't exist, atheists say it does, we don't say it's just for us, but the majority of the time, we are the ones defending it.
