Canned Soda has a shelf life of 9 months, 3 months if it contains artificial sweetener. But how do I know the "start date" if the can does not use plain-english open coding? Does anyone know how to interpret the dates that come stamped on the side of a 24-can cardboard palette or the coding stamped on the bottom of each can? I have requested information from Dr Pepper's customer service but I thought this might be faster!

They are supposed to have the use by date clearly marked. If it is in code, it is probably using the Julian Calender. Each day of the year is a number: Jan 1 is 1, Dec 31 is 365, unless it is a Leap Year. If you have a can with a code and not a clear date, the can is probably quite old. Cans do have a longer shelf life than a bottle, but if the can has been in a cool (not cold) dry place, it will last longer. Remember when there were no dates on anything and nobody died from drinking a soda that was a year old? If there is still fizz in the soda, it doesn't taste funny, it is still good.

When I get an expired can or case I call Dr Pepper and tell them and I get a couple of coupons from them but you have to save the can or bottle and give them the number and letters on the bottom of can and on the bottle the number is located at the top here is Dr Pepper's number 1-888- drpepper

Call-Im not really sure if Dr. Pepper is a Coke company or not--Coke has been known to stamp their L-G marks differently than other companies and Coke even has a couple of different L-G marks. Go to the source.

It should have a expiration date on the bottom of the can (i.e. JAN0107). If its 'coded' you'll need to ask the local bottler for the information.
