Hard Drive Camcorder or MiniDV Camcorder ?

Question

I am going to buy a Camcorder , if for MiniDV Camcorder my budget is about $200, if for Hard Drive Camcorder, my budget is about $ 500,

1. So I am wondering where can I buy a cheapest camcorder in Toronto?

2. Could you please tell me if I am too early to buy Hard Drive Camcorder. maybe I must buy a MiniDV Camcorder first , and waiting for Hard Drive Camcorder price going down, BTW, I don't think DVD camcorder's sensor is stable and reliable.

3. Can you recommend some models for me on my budgets? Thanks

Only JVC company has hard drive camcorder?

I've used both and They both have good quality video but it comes down to tapes in the long run your going to spend more money with HD its just drag and drop I have the JVC 20gig hd camcorder and its so easy to view your playbacks you dont have to rewind or forward to find a scene its automatically indexed for you. Also right now I believe they run under $500 I bought mines when they were out new cost me 599. go to bestbuy check them out. My opion get a HD cam.

I recently had the same problem. To answer your 1st question I found the best deal at Best Buy if there are none in Toronto try Best Buy.com. To answer your 2d question the deciding factor for me was the recording time (approx 30 min for mini DVD & DVD versus 4.5hrs with a harddrive camcorder. Also when you dock it to your computer the minDVD & DVD upload in real time where the HDD loads almost instantly. To answer your 3d question for a DVD or minDVD either Canon or Panasonic and for HDD the only one available is by JVC it has a 20GB HDD and costs about $650.00 american.
