Lately I have noticed an abundance of questions directed at the subject of theism. Also, many seem to be confused, thinking that theism is Deism, plain and simple. Since I am Deist, it has disturbed me that so many think they are simply one and the same. Deism is included under the term, but they are not mutually exclusive. The definition of Theism also includes organized religions of Christianity, Jews, etc.
Sorry, I know it's not a question, but comments are of course expected. I just thought it might be useful to point out the correct definition of theism and so have supplied the Wikipedia link. It is much too long to post here. Again, sorry this isn't a question for the purists in this forum :).

Fisch: The soapbox isn't necessary here, I'm on YOUR side. I didn't claim that my beliefs were true for anyone but me, in fact I didn't even address that. I couldn't give a tinker's damn who needs or doesn't need religion. All I am doing is pointing out a misunderstanding of a term that is being tossed around the forum.
