Sure I'm a Liberal and a Christian and I know how I became a Christian. Becoming a Chrisitian is as easy as ABC. First you the sinner must Accept that you are a sinner and need to be saved. Then you must Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for your sins, that He rose on the 3rd, and that He now sits beside God. Then you must Confess this by saying the previous steps and declaring you are saved.
The Bible says: "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved...For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:9; 13)

You are placing a confusing qualification to becoming a Christian. You should not do it. For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 1st Corinthians 14:33
Simply put, from scripture: If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9
If liberalism is a mental disorder, then it can be cured by renewing the mind. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Romans 12:2

a christian becomes a christian because of outside influences, regardless of their political preference. in my opinion a person can only become a christian when one of the following happens:
1) you were raised from birth by christians to be a christian
2) you were recruited by other christians in your adult life
3) you've been in prison and christianity is your only chance (it may just push your parole up if you're lucky)
I've never believed that liberals "can't be christians". I also don't believe liberalism is a mental disorder. GOD FORBID someone has a different opinion than a christian...if you do than its a mental disorder...

This is a weird question. Someone's faith and political affiliation are only loosely related, and while I'm a conservative, a few of my Christian friends consider themselves liberal because they like the idea of socialism. Their intentions are only to help the poor; we simply disagree about how that takes place (though most of them accuse ME of not caring about the poor. A little bitterness there). Christians can be liberal. It is much more important that we preach the gospel of Christ than get everyone to agree with us politically. Besides, what has the GOP accomplished with as much power as they have now? Social security reform? Nope. Tax code overhaul? Nope. Nothing of ANY value. We need a 2-party system.

"Liberalism is a mental disorder..." That's funny...my husband and I were just discussing how we thought that conservatives have a mental disorder that causes them to be smug, arrogant and full of pride. It can be cured by a simple procedure...teach them to think critically if that's possible.

Excuse me, but I'm a liberal and guess what? It is not a mental disorder. I think that you may want to think of what your doing because if you go into a spiritual belief because you want a 'cure' for a fake mental disorder than you are doing it for the wrong reason.
I used to belong to an Episcopal church and the members were very radical and liberal! Some believed in abortion, gay marriage, you name it!

dammit, someone already wrote brainwashing...I guess i will put what I seriously believe.
They become christian by making a choice to believe in what christianity teaches. They exercise their right and freedom to believe in what they want to. Their is no reason they can't become a christian, it all comes down to personal choice, or what their parents taught them, what they grew up with. I don't think its wrong for them to believe in it, just as I don;t think its wrong to be a pagan, or an atheist, or a wiccan. We live in america, where our choices are our own, and we should not have to answer to anyone about what we choose to believe in, as long as that religion or belief does not physically harm someone, or is against the law.

This is the part of being a conservative that I don't like, and that's the idiotic religous right getting involved in politics. Most liberals in this country believe in god, or whatever, they just have a different way of doing it. Please distance your self from the right. We have enough trouble trying to convince people we're not going to steal their wallet without having to convince them we're not going to send them to hell too. Grow the hell up, Jesus doesn't like people to be so fricking judgemental all the time. He's busy enough trying to get us to kill muslims....sheesh.
