Are you familair with the movie "the god who wasnt there"? on what basis do you believe that jesus was a man that once walked the earth? can you prove that he did? or do you believe that jesus was god in man form but not a man at all really?

can non-fundamentalists answer this question?

let me proceed either way...

IFit was found to be a fact that Jesus never walked the earth... Christians would be left with the FACT that knowing Jesus have changed their life & the FACT that they are convinced that things would have been a lot worse IF they haven't known Jesus.

IFit was found to be a fact that Jesus never walked the earth...
there would definitely be a great number of Christians who would lose their faith (it's not that it doesn't happen anyway, for even trivial reasons at that)

I am not familiar with the movie, but i'll try to look it up...

and lastly on what basis do Christians believe that there was a man called Jesus of Nazareth that once walked the earth... a lot of ancient manuscripts and books (outside of the Bible) has mentioned a Jesus of Nazareth.

Hstorians have written about the man called Jesus, so if you believe your college history books, if you believe any of the knowledge you have learned about the Roman era, then there wouldn't be a problem for you to believe that there was a historical Jesus who walked the earth... the answers are out there, you just need to seek it out... do not just believe what somebody (or some movie) has told you... do your research

What year is it? 2006 A.D.

Why, if Jesus never existed, is time marked by his life and resurrection? If Jesus never existed, why would not only Christians, but Muslims, Jews, and Hindus all believe he did? It's not a matter of IF he ever existed, the question is WHO he was. Some say a prophet, some say a teacher, some say he was GOd in human flesh. Ask any historian if Jesus existed and they'll tell you of course he did. That'd be like asking if Ghandi existed. If Jesus never walked the earth, I would not be able to call myself a Christian, because a Christian is someone who follows Jesus Christ. How could I follow him if he never existed.

If you're questioning IF Jesus existed, WHO he claimed to be, or the validity of the Bible, read the book Evidence that Demands a Verdit, by Josh McDowell... It delves into evidence that you cannot ignore.

I am not familiar with the movie you referred to. But, I believe ( I know) that Jesus is the perfect Son of God in human form. I am not worried about " if it was found to be a fact that jesus never walked the earth then what do you feel you would be left with?" Because this will not happen.

I could say that I can prove this from the Bible, but then you would come back with " but the Bible is just a book. It contradicts itself. Can you prove the Bible is real?" But, I will ask you, can you prove to me that Jesus NEVER walked the earth? Can you prove to me that Jesus is NOT the Son of God? Can you prove to me that the Bible is NOT real?? No you can't. Just like I can't prove anything to you. I have faith in my beliefs just like you have faith in your beliefs. So, lets call it a day and not try to get people all stirred up with these kind of questions. Shall we???

I am not a fundamentalist christian but here is my view: Questions about Jesus, or Questions designed to convert or recruit people to Jesus (or even away from Jesus for that matter)are simply a waste of time. Ditto for being "saved" or trying to clarify minute points of scripture when there are so many different interpretations and editions of text. People have already decided for the most part if they believe in the fiction written in the bible. People who feel God talks to them have psychological problems because hearing voices is a psychological illness. All the major world religions have issues like this.

For someone who believes in fantasies (9/11 was an inside job) I'm surprised you can't BELIEVE in something that has been REAL to millions of people for over 2000 years.

I believe that Jesus WAS there and DID walk this earth, spreading the Word, freeing people from tyrannical rule. Up to the time of Jesus, the Romans and Egyptian rulers were thought of as Gods. Not humans, but Gods to rule over their people however they saw fit. No wonder is was so dangerous for Christians. People being freed from tyrannical rule because of one Man and His Beliefs, I think that is pretty cool I feel sorry for you and all your inner anger and your little conspiracy seeking mind.

Oh, by the way, you MIGHT help your "cause" if you learned to spell and use proper grammar. Also, you should TRY to garner information from other sources than movies.

Well...your "what if" has endless possibilities.

The FACT is, He did walk the earth. It's not only found the in Holy Bible, there are other historical documents that prove:

1) Jesus of Nazareth walked the earth 2000+ years ago

2) He paid taxes

3) Made the Rabbi's very upset

4) Died on the cross

5) 500+ eye witnesses that watched Him rise into Heaven

So...there's proof (beyond the Bible).

Without Jesus Christ we could not call ourselves Christians and we would have no hope of salvation, but Jesus Christ is real, He did walk the earth, He is still alive in heaven setted at the right hand of God, do not listen to the lies of satan, God is real, God is one, Jesus Christ is real, and Jesus Christ is GOD!!!!

I believe Jesus's message has been distorted. I think he tried to teach us to be strong, to be able to not retaliate in violent ways, to forgive others, but his teachingss have been used to make people weak. They cling to the hope of salvation like a drowning person holds to a piece of driftwood and uses his "sacrifice" as a shield against the rest of the world. They find comfort in the emptyness of a promise that will never be kept.
