I recently did this and lost a potentially good lover. I am frank and honest and often unknowingly say things that are like advice but to the other person, its a blow to their ego apparently. its like trying to be handle a big dumb animal and being all thumbs!

Only cure is to find a lover who is confident and has a great sense of self worth. Nothing can destroy an ego that is genuinely secure. You shouldn't have to change your bluntness or frankness, however you do have to compromise and that's to use "tact" when you deliver your opinion. An opinionated woman is sexier than anything...so don't change. But have a better selection of suitors.

do not try to stop, if a man cannot handle some criticism then he is not a man anyway. I get criticism on a daily basis from men and women and if i cannot handle it then i do not work with those people anymore. Do not change what you are doing unless your comments were very harsh. You seem very nice so maybe the guy was just a bit to sensitive. And potentially a good lover? there is no potential in love, its either there or not. boom boom or bye bye.

Your mother was unhappily married and taught you this technique, didn't she?

This is a game you've been expertly trained in, and it won't go away because it works. You "win" when you keep men away from you, and you're winning.

Read the book below. The game you laugh at the hardest while reading the book is the game associated with your "honest advice" which is really a cold shoulder and get lost declaration.

First of all, DON'T BLAME YOURSELF FOR BEING AN HONEST PERSON! We all know that most of the times ''truth hurts'' but this is not an excuse for turned into liars. What's the best way to tell the truth without hurting others' feelings? BY BEING A DIPLOMAT! Let me give you some examples:

You say ''I hate your clothes, you look like a freak!''
You could say ''Why don't we go for shopping together and I 'll show which clothes a woman would like to see on a man''

You say ''I don't like the way you kiss me, you don't turn me on!''
You could say ''Close your eyes and let me show how I would like to kiss me baby''

I hope you got the message! Just don't be TOO HONEST...

I used to have the same problem, and my Mom told me that I don't always have to be right, or know the answers or make sure they know I'm as smart as them. There are other ways of being smart, without bruising their egos. And, you will find, the more confident the man, the less sensitive the ego....and the more confident YOU are....the less you need to prove. Good luck.

Wellllllllllllllllll,,,lots of us guys are truly big dumb animals but not all of us are. One of the best ways not to bruise anyones ego is to think about what you are about to say before you say it.It is good to be honest but not so good if you don't use it properly.

Think before you speak. It comes honestly with me, too. But you just have to tone down a little bit. Some men are really sensitive, so lay off the advice. Thats my best answer! good luck!

Watch how you word your responses. Your attempts at being frank or witty are misinterpreted. Of course I've had the same problem too. But people like you (or I) usually call one another on it. If that doesn't air the situation out...LOL...it can only make it worse.

Sounds to me like you are a lesbian. I had an ex like you. She always put me down. Turns out she is a man hater. Sounds like you are too. You will come out of the closet and admit you are into women. You always 'break' the male ego because you have a male ego yourself.

the only way I've found to avoid bruising the delicate male ego is to keep your mouth closed....the simplest most innocent comment can be devastating to those childlike egos our men carry around
