It makes you wonder doesn't it, why Adam and Eve were considered so evil? Before they ate the fruit they didn't know the difference between "good" and "bad", how were they to know that disobeying God was "bad" and since they sinned before they knew the difference, it is possible to sin while not knowing anything of good and evil.
So back on topic, would cutting down the tree make a difference? After all wouldn't it have died in the flood? Lets say it didn't. So its still alive. It (according to Christianity) is the reason death and vice is upon our world. One action causing strife for all eternity. Lets make an analogy, shall we? If you shoot someone in the head with a gun, and then procede to destroy it, smash it, incinerate it or whatever, does it bring the victim back to life? Destroying the tree of knowledge probably would do nothing unless its sending out microbotic waves of radiation to fetus's, teaching them "good" and "evil" and setting there appointed death date.
If the tree of knowledge being detroyed actually had any effect I think the God would hate it. After all, people who sinned before would continue doing so, not even knowing it was bad. And when his witnesses who do not know what "good" is trying and talk to the sinners, they would have no ground, and the sinners wouldn't fear the prospect of hell, so no one would be saved, everyone would be in vice, and no one would care.

I believe the tree to be symbolic anyways.. humans are born curious. We will learn given the opportunity and availability. The tree.. belongs to a creation myth. Knowledge, well, that is all around us.

As the tree of good and evil is a man made myth. I suppose the question does not matter.

I suspect, although there is no way to be sure, that God intended for man to be able to partake of this tree at some point in his spiritual development or once certain conditions had been met. So, no, I don't think it would please him to have it chopped down. He didn't have to put it there in the first place if he didn't have a reason for having done so.

You my friend are obssesed. However God would be pleased according to the fundis as he would have no competition. According to me he would be sad as no more Athiests or Agnostics would be here--they would all be fundis.

People try and kill off knowledge and reason all the time, they call it "embracing the faith".
