Who should IRELAND support in the RYDER CUP?

With the football world cup fast fading from memory, we in Ireland have put away or thrown out our Swedish, Ecuador & Paraguay shirts. But have we lost our ABE (anyone but England) attitude or will it become anyone but Europe! Surely not. Though the European team is dominated by Brits there's also a couple of good Irish guys in the mix - is that enough to make us forget we hate the English & we will be cheering all the boys on in all the matches regardless of country?
Europe can hardly win if the English boys lose. Discuss.

What kills me is that when Engalnd aren't playing we're supposed to support ROI. You know, that team of also rans who weren't good enough for England so went back a generation or six to see if they can play for someone else.

I understand that due to the history between our two countries that there should be ill feeling from the Irish and the Scottish but most of the English people had nothing to do with this.

You should still aim your hatred at the institution and not at the people, the golfers are people.

Xenophobia is a disgusting trate in a human being, an example of the most ignorant form of bigotry. Therefore you should get over your predjucies and support Europe because sporting competition is about bringing people together in friendship not in hatred. Americans should support the USA and Europeans their own team in the spirit of friendly competition.

LOL...i am american but i can emphasize. I hate the NY Yankees but being a fan of the American League I find myself in the dilemma of should I cheer them on. I cheer for any time playing against them, but during the All Star game I cheer for the AL team even though it has Yanks on it.

Of course, your dislike of the Brits is a little more deep seated than growing up in Yankee country...lol. But, I owuld cheer them on and take pleasure in the fact that if they win, then they helped your countrymen win. If the Euros lose, you can then place them blame squarely on the Brits' shoulders...lol.

See, there is this delusion doing the rounds. It says that because of the fact your team heavily isn't there you may help yet another one. it is on the subject of the comparable as Liverpool getting knocked out of the Champions League so all the Scousers help Chelsea rather.
