There is a man who I have never seen, only a photo... besides we have hardly spoken online 10 times. He says he is not married. He's 9 years older than me. He is from a neighbouring country and says he wants to be my boyfriend. I am very confused... When he started talking about being his girlfriend, I considered it as a joke, but he says he is serious... I want to ask, what would you do if you were me? I can't say that he is not interesting. He seems to be clever and intelligent, but his idea about being my boyfriend really confuses me. How can he suggest it if he even has never seen me? I would not refuse to meet him to get acquainted, but a girlfriend???.... What do you think?

I can add that he did not make a secret of his person. He gave me the address of his website, where there was his photo too and he really looked like the other photo he showed me before, besides it will not be a problem to recognoze him if I ever meet him.

Don't do it - he's probably a rapist of a psycho. Don't tell him where you live or any personal information!! Keep yourself safe - there's a lot of pervert sickos online!

Normally when someone asks for a committement before knowing what they're committing to is a sign of a void. He doesn't love you so why not just date online instead of taking a step up to the level of "boyfriend/girlfriend". He probably has abandonment issues and desires a girlfriend to fill that current void in his subconciense mind. Don't fall for it...if it was meant for the two of you to be boyfriend/girlfriend, it will come...what's the rush?? Aside from his void. Not yours. Look out for YOU. Okay.

Dear girl,
Please understand. The photo that you mentioned may not be his real photo, either. Maybe he is a good one, but who can say it? Chatting only 10 times, girl! it is not enough to understand a person even not seeing him. Just try to search about him. As you said he was intelligent, then he will be good. But, give your brain to solve this. Think!

Irma - I'm a single man, 30 years old. No offense, but I can't think of any man (in his right mind) who'd want to date a lady he's never seen. I would answer your question, but I think you did it yourself. So I'll just send you back what I cut and pasted from your original question: ... "How can he suggest it if he even has never seen me? I would not refuse to meet him to get acquainted, but a girlfriend???.... "

Girlyou better be careful especially how theres alot of freaks out there I'd be on my guard. You say that he hasn't even seen you or met you and he wants to be your bf? Thats kind of weird cause you don't know him and you've never met him.
I think that you two should be acquaintances and if he continues to push for a relationship then I think that you end it

NO absolutely not. You have barely talked online and never even met. I think it is immature of him to suggest such a thing considering the circumstances!

Don't even think of going for it because no one knows what he wants or what he's like. You don't want to find out the hard way. So just say that you'd like to be friends, if he refuses, ignore him completely.

I think your quite right. By all means meet up first, but how can you say that you are someone's boyfriend or girlfriend when you've never even met face-to-face?

Anyone can say anything on the internet! How do you know you can trust anything he says at all? My sister has had some bad luck with internet dating! Beware!
