I think is the other way around. Those artist who use color and brush trace to convey emotion and express their feelings are classified as Expressionists.
Color has physical qualities that because of our sensory and day to day experiences are attributed certain emotional values. Expressionists are extremely sensitive to this emotional connection and use it in their art.

I suppose if you are angry you would see the colour RED...? If you are feeling down you would use blue...! and if you were walking through corn fields on a lush sunny day you would no doubt see the colour yellow...! If you used black or white it would be classed as old times and bouring..... I so dont know the answer but we do use colour in a lot of our surroundings...! weva it be buying a tooth brush..... I would get a blue one....

When you see blue do you think cool? When you see red do you think Hot? When you see green do you think nature? White, light? Pink, female? It comes from our environment. The stimulation of our emotions. This is used by all good artists.

We are all influenced by colour, it is subjective in interpretation, though can be used very effectively to create moods or sensations.

Hi, I like the nice "frenchification" of your screen name, but you should know that it is not correct, and should be written "l'artiste".
