LIFE IS HOW YOU SEE AND TAKE IT:
Some people see life as a battle. Every encounter is a struggle, and if they don't win, they feel like they have lost. Others view life as an adventure. A new day brings new opportunities to explore. If something goes badly today, there's always tomorrow.
How do these metaphors develop? As children we begin to understand and organize the world. If we think of the brain as a filing cabinet, then childhood is when we open the files and label them. We often spend the rest of our lives putting new material in these old files. If childhood was healthy, then we may have a pretty good filing system. If it was a struggle, then we often see struggles for the rest of our life.
What are your metaphors? This is not usually obvious. We have to stand back a long way to see patterns like this in our lives. A few examples:
A Battle - Everything is a competition or a struggle. We are always either winning or losing.
A Garden - Relationships are cultivated like flowers or vegetables. We see things as growing, flowering, producing.
A Mission - We believe that we have the truth and we need to convince others that our point-of-view is right.
A Journey or an adventure - We travel from place to place meeting new people and exploring.
A Building - Starting with a solid foundation, then adding floors and rooms.
A Roller Coaster - Life consists of ups and downs, and we are along for the ride.
A Stained-glass window - full of light and colors.
A Mountain Climb - Life consists of hierarchies. We are always climbing the corporate ladder.
A Race - always finding the fastest route, "keeping up with the Jonses."
A Courtroom - Everything in life should be fair.
Stepping Stones - We barely get comfortable where we are before we are looking for better job or a bigger house.
A Prison - Feeling like we don't have choices, like others have all the power.
A Classroom - There are always new lessons to learn.
A Battery - Every encounter seems to drain energy. We need the weekends to recharge.
ALL OF US SHOULD LOVE OUR LIFE NO MATTER WHAT ! AN IMPERFECT LIFE IS WHAT MAKES IT SO EXCITING! PERFECT IS BORING!

Another yes and no. My family is healthy and so am I. I have love in my life and all these factors keep me going. I really wish my financial situation was better. It seems like that is the only consistent problem in my life that seems to never go away no matter how much time and energy I put into changing things.
Then I hear stories, (like one I heard this morning) of my cousin who lost a child some time back and now has a grandson in the hospital listed in critical condition. While that side of the family is well off financially, death seems to haunt them constantly.
I tend to think life could be a lot worse and I should thank god for the life I have.

The only way to truly 'love your life" is learn to be content in the moment! There's nothing wrong with dreaming for a better life, but we should all open our eyes and recognize what we have - right now! God bless!

I love my life. I have everything I've ever wanted and continue to receive everything I ask God for. I don't always get it when I want it but it always works out somehow. I was a career woman until a year ago and am now a stay at home mom of a one year girl. My days are spent chasing my toddler around and singing with Elmo. How much better can life get?!

Yes and no. I love being alive. I appreciate life. I love my husband, daughter and family and friends. I like my job.
Wish it paid more. Wish we had more money, wish we had a newer car, bigger house. There's always more STUFF I could use, but that's just STUFF.
I am mostly content with life.

I'm just content with it. Why? Because it could be better. I could be in a relationship where the man actually loves on me and tells me that he loves me and shows it and all that crap. But no, not me, I'm just here for the hell of it! Sorry Kinda vented.

I'm content with it, because I live with chronic illness and discomfort. I have developed mechanisms to help me to endure, with some semblance of grace. Naturally I would rather be well, but we all must play with the hands we are dealt, without complaint and with composure.
