I am giving her fish oil but it is not working, must brush her a lot. My other boxer sheds normally which is a lot. Vet assistant said fish oil, but I live in Italy, so have been asking world wide to find a solution.

I once took care of my brother in-laws male Boxer for a few months & he shed more than any dog I have ever seen!

Fish oil can help BUT there are other dietary supplements or vitamins that you can give the dog.

What your vet was trying to tell you is that excess shedding is usually caused by a lack of "Fatty Acids" in the dogs diet. So that is why he suggested fish oil. I would go one step farther & buy a vitamin/supplement that is specially made for shedding. To help locate one, do a search online for "pet supplies + dietary supplements" & you should find a whole bunch of web sites that will give you what you need at lower prices than it would cost you at the local pet supply store.

Also look fo a doggie shampoo that is made especially for shedding or one with extra moisturizers in it. This will help with the dry skin which ijn turn will help inprove the shedding situation.

A good falt rubber brush with short nubs instead of bristles will also help. It uses static electricity to attract the loose fur, while massaging away the dead skin cells.

This is how I cured the Boxer that I had of his horrible shedding. If you combine the dietary supplements with the shedding shampoo & the falt rubber brush, your dog will be almost cuired by the end of the month!! Good Luck!!

Do you men that she is not shedding out her winter coat?
Sometimes it takes longer for a dog to shed out the winter coat than others.
Most people add oil to the diet to keep them from shedding as much. As it is rich in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids which are good for the hair coat and are supposed to help with not shedding as much.
If it is just winter coat keep brushing and it should come out.
If not you may want to have a vet check her out to make sure she is ok and not having thyroid problems. They can make an animal hold the winter coat longer than normal.

Ummm... if we're talking about right now, shedding will decrease as the cooler months are coming. If it's the spring time when she "doesn't shed"... count your blessings! As long as she's getting a good diet, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Short haired dogs are prone to skin problems so you miught want to look into switching her to Eukanuba dog food. From what I recall... it's the best dog food for short haired dogs and skin "problems".
