BTW, my teeth are just fine and I floss maybe two or three times a week.

I was told it's the number of times a week for the number of decades you alive that you were meant to floss. Therefore to have to floss daily, you'd need to be 70+

Yep. Spending an extra couple of minutes a day is worth preventing an expendature of thousands of dollars for periodontal work later, or losing your teeth if you can't afford the periodontal work. Flossing once or twice a week doesn't cut it. You might as well never floss. Unless you do it daily, you are not getting the full benefits of flossing. It can take just a matter of hours for bacterial waste to harden into plaque, and then flossing is useless. Flossing won't remove the stuff that's already hardened. Then that plaque creates pockets where bacteria hide, then you get decay below the gum line. It's not worth it to not take the minute or two a day to prevent losing your teeth.

I do not, but i know i should. I do know plenty of ppl who do, as well as plenty who do not. You don't need to do it twice a day, just once in the evening before bed (along w/brushing, of course). It is hard to start and keep up the habit (just like going to the gym!), especially if your gums bleed or are sore at first. The bleeding and soreness is a sign that you really do need to be doing it (symptom of gingivitis--germs that live there party and make them sensitive and inflamed), but check your technique with the dentist or hygenist at your next visit. Flossing is really important for overall health of your body, because gingivitis leads to lots of other health issues (ask dentist or hygenist about oral-systemic link). Though i think flossing the number of times per week for each decade you want to live is an old wives' tale, it probably holds SOME truth in that the better care you take of yourself, the better your chances of a long and healthy life AND that even if you're not flossing daily, it is better to floss sometimes than never (if that means every other day, or a few times a week). Something is better than nothing, and the closer you get to daily, the better.

Did you know not flossing can have some effect in pregnancy. That's what I saw on some TV show. Must have to do with bacteria!

But ya, I definitely don't find the enegry to floss. Listerine anyone?

I also floss daily before I go to bed.
I used to let my dentist take care of my teeth but I learned that flossing can actually reduce your trips to dentist and save money. And after flossing my mouth feels good.

Yes I floss daily...usually in the evening when i brush my teeth before bed, to just give them a good old clean, then a rinse through with mouthwash...

When you get older the gaps in between your teeth seem to hold half your supper so, yes I floss daily for comfort as well as for the good of my teeth - I use one of those little interdental brushes - great things... You're obviously still young so there's another thing about getting old you didn't want to know!! :-)

i floss daily, every evening after i have brushed my teeth, i don't know if you really need to do it daily, but where i live there are no dentists and i really don't want bad teeth. i could go private but i'd sooner save money and buy tooth floss as it is cheaper.
(i only floss as theres no dentists)

I floss after every meal :-)
I do forget here and there and sometimes just don't have time for it, but I'm still a regular flosser. I'm crazy about clean teeth.
