remove all the tv's, radios and computers from the house. Serve/drink milk before bedtime...and find (or encourage) more important things to do. How about reading a book, making a scrap book, learning something? Stress that the couch is for guests only, give her the mental note that her bed belongs to her. Maybe she's afraid of all the kidnappings on tv and prefers the living room where people congregate and she feels it's safer there.

How old is this girl? If she is a young child, than start a consistent bedtime ritual. Turn off the TV yourself and tell her it is time to go to bed. Read a book, say prayers, tell stories, revisit the the days events, whatever. Just make sure she is in her bed when these are done. If she is older, than still turn off the TV yourself and send her to her room. If the TV itself is the draw to the couch take it away from in front of the couch. If she is attached to the cable(no pun intended) than make her earn the money to pay for the extra cost for an additional hook up. She will either earn it, or give up and learn to sleep in her own bed. You should definitely ask her why she won't sleep in her bed. Maybe it is too uncomfortable, or maybe her room itself is too warm/cold. Are other family members still up and maybe making too much noise? If that is the case than she probably has the mind set of "if you can't beat them join them."
Get to the root and everyone will sleep better!
Good Luck!

Buy a new bed, as it may be uncomfortable. Get rid of cable for a year. If she has no reason to stay in the lounge because her TV is the same.....then she may prefer her new bed as a comfortzone.
YOU may not like that (losing cable)......but to change a habit, you have to change the routine.

Well my suggestion would be ( if she is quite young, 5or younger) would be be tough. Bed is Bed. Think how hard it is going to be when school starts. No T.V. just bed. Tears will roll but this is for the best.

He is going by tiers. he's 2yrs and a pair of months outdated and for the final couple of months it fairly is been harder to get him to mattress. Ever in view that Christmas, New Years Eve, and so on. quite some relatives events and issues that meant overdue bedtimes for him have dissatisfied his agenda. on the 2d I would desire to lie with him and cuddle him to get him to sleep, which could take something between quarter-hour and a pair of hours finding on his temper, if it fairly is an prolonged night now and lower back I merely finally end up falling asleep earlier he does and spend the night in his little toddler mattress lol. earlier this area he used to pass to sleep superb, i'd desire to positioned him in mattress, kiss him goodnight and leave and that would desire to be it. completely chuffed days! yet he's had harder patches too interior the previous the place i've got had to lie with him or do controlled crying, whichever works merely right for him on the time (there have been tiers the place he hasn't allowed me to lie with him to sleep and could scream if I positioned him to mattress any time earlier the early hours (that grew to become into the end results of jet lag which lasted some weeks with him) so controlled crying grew to become into the sole thank you to pass). with a bit of luck this area will end too quickly and he will go lower back to being ordinary peasy!
