I am putting together a care package for a newborn.
I need help deciding exactly what to put in the package.

What single item could you NOT live without when you had a newborn??
It's a boy if that helps...

I am the mother of a 5 mth old baby and some of the products I could not live without are Sudocrem (amazing product for keeping away diaper rash-my son has not yet had any type of rash and I have used this since birth!), Baby Einstein videos or cd's, of course diapers, pj's, undershirts, lavender baby wash (which helps to calm baby), and definitely a good book about sleep (I never realized babies sometimes need help with this!), books I found useful were any of the "Baby Whisperer" titles by Tracy Hogg and also "What to expect during the first year" by Heidi Murkoff, Sandee Hathaway, and Arlene Eisnberg.

Wet wipes. By the crate load. Kids are dirty around every orifice. Wet wipes let you clean them without scratching the skin and having to go crazy with soap. One of those spiffy little carriers that holds like 50 of them is a great thing to have in every purse, car glovebox, diaper bag etc etc.

Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Crib Aquarium. This product soothed my daughter to sleep as an infant and when she was mobile in her crib and woke up she would use it to put herself back to sleep. It was a godsend!

And lots of bottle brushes!

lots of diapers, receiving blankets ( you know the flannel ones) it seems simple but those two things you use alot more than you would expect. if you live in cold climate, warm "bags" to put baby in for outings are nice too.
