There are scholarships out there, but most are for those about to graduate from college. However, there are a few out there. There are programs out there for those who want to return to school to go for nursing because of the nursing shortage. The key to applying for a scholarship is applying well before the deadline and paying attention to the organization's website for an idea to tackle the essay question on the application.

Have you applied for federal aid? If not, go here:
http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
If you need help filling it out, go talk to the financial aid office at the school.

Like the other person said, unless you are coming right out of high school and are at the top of your class, or have special qualifying criteria (relative a veteran, etc.) then getting a scholarship is very unlikely. So, if you cannot qualify for FAFSA then your best bet is a student loan.

Rare to expect a grant or scholorship unless you are the top of your class, or qualify under a minority category.

Student loan is your best option, but that certainly is not free!
