Have him see a doctor. My husband did the same thing plus he would stop breathing. He has Apnia. He now wears a mask (Cpap machine) that forces air into his nose and the snoring has stopped. It has serious medical ramifications if left untreated.

Snoring can be related to a very serious health condition and it would be best if he saw a medical specialist about this. It requires a sleep study most likely by a qualified Neurologist - snoring or Sleep Apnea can cause serious cardic problems with people. They sometime prescribe CPAP or oxygen for people who have snoring problems. I don't know if it will help the snoring or not but it's worth a try - at least make sure he gets seen by a doctor for it. This CPAP device if it is prescribed might block some of the snoring - but it's basically a mask that fits over his head - so I'm not sure if that's best or not - but regardless if it's serious enough to keep you up at night - it's serious enough to get they guy to a doctor. It really is a medical problem that might be treatable.

Oh goodness, you poor thing!
Like a few others have already mentioned, it could be sleep apnea. I don't know much about it other than what I have heard from my few relatives who have it. But my aunt has quite a severe case. For a number of years, she couldn't drive for more than half an hour without falling asleep. When she slept, she used to snore loudly. From what I remember, she said that it was because the air passages actually close so she stops breathing for a short period of time. Like someone else mentioned, she too went to the doctor, now has a special mask and breathing apparatus and no longer snores, sleeps very well, and is in general feeling alot better now. Best of luck! :)

I feel your pain. What he should do is go to the doctor, but since he probably won't, like most men- here are some things to try. The nose strips don't work. The snore spray only works moderately and is not worth it in my opinion. Get him to sleep on his side (good) or stomach (better) with his face pointed away from you. Run a fan. Have him use as few pillows as possible- none if he is ok with it. If he insists on big or several pillows just pull them out from under him when he starts snoring. The less bend in his neck and throat, the less he will snore. Have him drink a few glasses of water an hour or two before bed so he's not dehydrated. If all else fails, put one hand on top of his head and one just below his jaw and try to tilt his head back, creating even less bend in his neck/throat. But be careful- if you wake him while doing this you are back to square one. Good luck....

Buy earplugs, the little foam ones. But only use them a few times before you change them or they won't block out the noise properly. Get him to sleep on his side, facing away from you. Wake him up when he starts snoring. That way, he will stop snoring for a while which gives you time to get back to sleep again. And go to sleep before him if possible, but wear the ear plugs too so you don't get woken up. Tell him to lose weight if he needs to.
Listen to the way he snores, if he stops breathing for more than 6 or 7 seconds and then suddenly starts again, and he does this hundreds of times a night, it's sleep apnoea, and he needs to go to the doctor. People have died from sleep apnoea. It's common in snorers.

Good Luck, it gets easier with time.

Try to get him to sleep on his side, mine does the same thing and it works for me. If he starts I just give him a nudge and tell him to go back on his side. If that doesn't work there are nose strips available at the pharmacy that go across the bridge of your nose. Apparently they work quite well also. good luck and get some rest. If the side thing works and he keeps falling to his back, make him wear a pair of track pants with a back pocket and put a golf ball in the pocket. he'll be sure not to go on his back as it will be too uncomfortable for him

Send him to the doctor to make sure the snoring is not a symptom of something serious. As for what to do about the noise, try seperate bedrooms.

Try to go to bed before he does. My husband is a loud snorer. If I can fall asleep before he does, I don't have any problems. If he goes to bed first, it takes me forever to get to sleep.
