Fuggetaboutit. Camera shops don't even repair digital cameras - it all gets shipped back to the factory.

I would recommend a vintage 35mm SLR camera. Minolta's are really good. Look for a Minolta SR-1, SRT-101 or SRT-202. You should be able to find one on eBay or Craigslist in good condition for fairly cheap. Sometimes local camera shops have used vintage cameras too. I have the cameras I mentioned, and they're well made and very reliable. I'm pretty sure they were all made in the 1960's or early 1970's and all of mine work perfectly fine. It's impressive to know that a camera that was probably made long before I was even born still works great! All the cameras I mentioned use completely manual exposure control - you set the shutter speed and aperture yourself. But that's better anway, because you'll be able to have more control and creativity with your pictures. And manual exposure isn't that hard to learn.

Most manufacturers website provide Customer/Tech Support, it always won't hurt to try and ask for their help. Most of them provides assistance as part of product support.
