My dog did the same a couple of years ago and I panicked like crazy. It turned out that he'd been eating chicken bones out of the bin and they don't digest properly so small shards of chicken bone were coming through with its "poo" so it may just be a case of your dog's "ring-piece" being slightly cut. What made it worse was the dog panicks too and it started rubbing its bum over the floor to try and itch itself. My vet put him in laxatives and said the only thing I could do was just wait for it to pass and don't let him eat things he shouldn't.

It's not uncommon for a dog in pain or in distress to run or even get defensive and bite. Bribe her with a small peice of boneless chicken or some other special treat. Then when she's distracted, gently put your hand on her as if to pet her, then pick her up--and by all means, take her to the vet. Don't run after her, the more you run after her, the more she's going to run away. Try to woo her into coming to you instead. If that doesn't work, start closing doors to all bedrooms, etc, so that you can trap her in a hallway or somewhere where she can't get away from you.

She could be in heat, but since she's running away and acting strange, it could be something else. She probably should see a vet.

Good luck!

Are you sure it is coming from her butt. Look at her vagina and if it is swollen she is more than likely in heat. That is what it sounds like they way you describe it and if it is her first time coming in heat she may not realize what is happening and that is why she is running around crazy like. I have raised many dogs of different breeds and some dogs have a harder time with life changes than others ( just like people). You may want to take her to the vet just to make sure and maybe he can give her something to calm her down. You can also buy pads to put on her while she is bleeding ( kinda like what women where). That way she is not getting blood all over the house.

Are you sure it is her butt? How old is your little dog? She could just be having her period. Females have them either right before or right after they come into heat. If it is anal bleeding then I would take her to the vet, it could just be something she ate and is having a hard time passing it. But the vet is more experienced in those matters.

Call your vet and tell them she is bloody and would not let you catch her, when you do you want to bring her in so they can set up an emergency appointment for you. Put down a tiny bit of her favorite food and use this to catch her. Have the crate prepared and wisk her off to the vet.

they have a gland back there that can get cyst like, if it ruptures they bleed a lot, catch her & settle her down as best you can hold a towel on her butt & if the bleeding wont stop as the pressure comes off the cyst go to the animal hospital. the bleeding should subside.

She may be running from the pain. Be careful when you catch her, that she does not bite you from fear or pain. Put her in a box or carrier, and call your vet immediately.
