I prefer Vegetarian.
Who will certify the quality?
Even if the meat is of an healthy animal also it is harmful to health.
Human beings are not non vegetarians according to their natural structure.

I know I'm not- I guess I wouldn't eat it if I actually knew that info and the amount of hormones etc pumped into the poor animal -I guess I'd rather not know.

I find it hard to eat enough leafy greens and other iron sources if I don't eat meat once in a while.

I am. I'm a farmer and I grow my own.

Nothing better than knowing you can sustain yourself with the fruits of the earth, cultivated with your own two hands and then canned and stored for leaner times.

For those that don't farm, the FDA doesn't permit diseased cows to be slaughtered for the food industry. And no rancher would ever knowingly send a diseased animal off to the slaughter house. That's his living and when caught, the rancher is out of a job.

Being "out of a job" with several hundred head of cattle to feed is much worse than living in the city and being "out of a job."

I'm sure the vast majority of them are diseased (or have been, and were treated with an antibiotic) at some point in time. When I'm cutting into my medium rare filet mignon, I'm not thinking of the cow's medical history--I'm busy watching the bloody, flavorful "juice" seep out and soak into the base of my baked potato. Yumma!

Not unless they raised it themselves. Even then they have little control of what goes on during processing unless they butchered it themselves as well. Irradiation is the only way to be sure that all microbial activity has been destroyed. Preferably e-beam type irradiation. It is the safest.
