You will probably need to take a re-certification class. We have to every two years or so anyway, to keep up with new things & keep sharp.

CPR certification validity is a tricky issue. People don't realize that there is a difference between being licensed and certified. I can hand you a certificate for CPR. It would be meaningless but still you would be certified. If you have been trained in CPR then you are covered by laws if you preform it. However if you are looking for a job and have a CPR certificate issued by a foreign agency it will most likely not be accepted. In the United States the most common certifying agencies are the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. If CPR is required for a job then you will most likely need a certification from one of those two organizations.

Certification just means you took a class. if you need the certificate for a job or something, ask THEM if they will accept your certificate or not.

If you have a non-US certificate and plan on renewing your skills, you can take a Red Cross Challenge Class or Review Class if you wish. Pass it and you'll become Red Cross certified.
