I used to be hairdresser and I can see how this happened. You must have naturally lighter hair. You needed a base color to add to your hair to allow a color to take better. First of all, try to get more of the pink out..if you have baking soda in your house, mix it in with a good clarifying shampoo. This will remove more of the pink deposits in your hair, although probably not all. Condition your hair well after with conditioner.

However, if you are trying to go back to your natural and it's lighter you need to got to a colorist at the salon. It is too tricky to figure it out yourself.

If you are going darker, you can slap any color right away on top, granted there is a natural base to it. Say you still want to go red...get a medium natural brown, do not get any ash or beige bases, they will turn you hair green or blue. After this application see if it pulls any red on its own. Sometimes they will.

Really though, you do need to go see a hairdresser now. They will fix it for you and the cost will actually be cheaper than if you try to fix it yourself.

i suggested going to a professional hair dresser or color artist.

I had a similar experience myself, the bottles got mixed and I put a red on my hair (dark brown) which had bleach in it. I'm guessing the dye you used has bleach in it too, so the rule is to wait about 6 weeks before trying to bleach or lighten your hair again. You would be okay to use a temp/washout hair color. I would also suggested putting a lot of closteral (sp?) on your hair with a shower cap over it for about 45 minutes to an hour at least once a week, so you're hair doesn't get the gum or straw like texture from over processing.

Good Luck, I hope this helps you out!

I have been in your same situation, and I only waited a couple of days before I dyed it again. Nothing will happen to your hair, I promise! Ofcourse it is always better to get it fixed professionally, but if that's not an option for you, then its safe for you to try again yourself. However, if you still don't get the red color that you wanted, then your going to have no choice in the end but to seek a professionals help. Good luck!!

It depends on what kind of dye it is , if it is permanent then I say wait a few more days , if its semi or a temp color , go ahead and dye it . The thing is you don't wanna stress your hair out anymore

If you are going darker, you can do it now. If you are going lighter, I would recommend waiting a couple of weeks or going to a pro.

Was it just color, or did you lift it? If it's just color, you can use "ColorFix" to remove that and do it again. I don't think it's a good idea to put color on top of color--you never know what the combination will be.
