The Scripture (Exodus 34:28; Deuteronomy 4:13) tells us only that there are Ten Commandments. It does not actually number them in either of the texts given (Exodus 20:1-17; Deuteronomy 5:6-21).
So, among Christians at least, there are three different versions of numeration that I have encountered: Catholic, Lutheran and 'Other Protestant'. Since I belong to the 'Other Protestant' category, I shall recite them according to that tradition:
1. I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of the land of Egypt. You shall have no other gods before Me.
2. You shall not make for yourself any graven image of anything that is in the heaven above, or on the earth below, or that swims in the sea. [...]
3. You shall not take the Lord's Name in vain, for the Lord will not hold guiltless any that take His name in vain.
4. Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it holy. Six days shall you labor, doing all your work, but the seventh day you shall rest. On it you shall do no work - neither you, nor your manservant, nor your maidservant, nor your ox nor your donkey [There are two different continuations of this commandment, the one in Exodus referring to Creation, the one in Deuteronomy referring to the Exodus from Egypt].
5. Honor your father and your mother, that you may live long in the land which the Lord your God is giving to you.
6. You shall not kill.
7. You shall not commit adultery.
8. You shall not steal.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
10. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.

No, different traditions treat the verses in different ways, some even have 12 commandments. There is no one way to look at it.
"The passage conventionally considered to include the commandments in chapter 20 of the book of Exodus contains more than ten imperative statements (while Jewish law sees each as representing a separate commandment), totaling 14 or 15 in all.
Nonetheless, the Bible itself assigns the count of "10". The Hebrew phrase ʻaseret had'varim - translated as the 10 words, statements or things Exodus 34:28, Deuteronomy 4:13 and Deuteronomy 10:4.
Religious groups have divided the commandments in different ways.
For instance, Catholics and Lutherans see the first six verses as part of the same command prohibiting the worship of pagan gods. Protestants (except Lutherans) separate all six verses into two different commands (one being "no other gods" and the other being "no graven images"). The initial reference to Egyptian bondage is important enough to Jews that it forms a separate commandment. Catholics and Lutherans separate the two kinds of coveting (namely, of goods and of the flesh), while Protestants (but not Lutherans) and Jews group them together."

1. You shall have no other gods before me
2. You shall not make graven images or likenesses of that which is in heaven (modern-day application: you shall not make a god to suit yourself)
3. You shall not take the name of the Lord God in vain (some translations, not swear falsely by the name of the Lord God)
4. Remember the Sabbath Day and keep it holy, 6 days work; 7th day rest
5. Honor your father and mother
6. You shall not steal
7. You shall not kill
8. You shall not commit adultery.
9. You shall not bear false witness.
10. You shall not covet (anything) that is your neighbor's.
(Sometimes I get 6-9 mixed up. I didn't look. How did I do?) *Later. I see I mixed them up. Oops.

1) I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
2) Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
3) Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
4) Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
5) Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
6) Thou shalt not murder.
7) Thou shalt not commit adultery.
8) Thou shalt not steal.
9) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
10) Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his a.s.s(donkey), nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
But the all that can be brought down to two
Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength.

Theres no correct order but the catholic version puts order in and the meanings of the commadments:
1 Im am the LORD GOD who took you out of the lands of egypt you shall not have any strange/other god before me ...meaning that there is only one GOD in 3 persons he is only due to worship no idols no statues only GOD only he has power it also means no practicing any superstision/believing horoscopes/fortune tellers... also that he is all merciful and he will forgive if you ask and repent.. no going to places of false worship catholic worship on the sabbath is worshiping GOD by offering him the sacrafice of his only begotton son by this meaning that by the powers of the holy spirit the priest as the lord said the words of consecration at the last supper turns bread and wine to the Real Body and Blood of Christ we offer the LORD CHRIST to the ETERNAL FATHER as the highest form of prayer... also not saying daily sins may go againts this commadment.
2 You shall not take the holy name of the LORD, your GOD, in vain... meaning you shoudn't not say a blasmephise againts the Name of the LORD... you should not make rash or unessicary oaths...perjury in court... even swearing at your wife/kids/neighbours because you should treat people as you'd treat the lord with love.
3 Remeber to keep holy the Sabbath Day... meaning to catholics the sabbath is Saturday night or Sunday sabbath not meaning specifically saturday but a day of rest... this commadment is ... you must go to Church every Saturday night/Sunday and any Holy days that are obligated/Christmas,Epiphany,Corupus Christi, Ascnesion,All Saints/All Souls day, St. Peter and Pauls, Immaculate Conception... latter two differ in other countries... the commadment also means ... that you must not be late to church.. you must pay attention to the Bible readings and worship the LORD properly... you shouldn't do any unnecissary works on sabbath for it is the day of rest.
4 Honor Your father/mother
meaning don't curse at your parents.. bear false lies againts them... hurt them in any physical way... also you should support them with your earnings especially if they cannot work.. visitt them and care for them if they are sick..and you should go againts there wishes unless if it is to serve the LORD. But when you are married you should never choose your parents over your wife/husband
5 You shall not kill
meaning ... in no way can you kill an innocent the only thing acceptiable is if someone was about to kill you (self defense)... you cannot have an abortion we believe this is killing a baby especially one that is yet not baptized... you shouldn't commit Euthanasia which is depriving someone of food water anything that can say there life like in Terry Shiavo's case... malice or any thoughts of killing someone are againts this commadment or even hurting someone bad... and Suicide we believe only God can judge if a person that has killed them self had any mental issues or anything like that we believe that God was merciful to him we pray for that person but in any other case we cannot be sure but we believe that the soul of the person dies= eternal damnation... aslo using drugs and stuff can also go other this category..and not warning some one of sin catholics must warn someone if they are fully aware of what the person is doing or he takes upon himself the responsibility of the sin ..also causing someones death by negligence (not stoping someone from drinking and driving ..then the drinker kills someone)... Also using any kind of contraception killing the chance of a new life any contraception being condoms, birth control, surgical operations..the only way to avoid pregnacy is to practice Natural Family Planning.. but all catholics are encourage to make children if you want to avoid pregnancy with NFP the reason for sex is to bringing the couple closer toghether and to show each other love for one another meaning that sex isn't just used to create life as non-catholics believe.
6 You shall not commit adultry
meaning... you shouldnt cheat on your spouse... you should not fronicate( pre-maritial sex)= vaginal anal oral and even masturbation...you cannot perform any homosexual acts... and we believe that getting divorced and remarrying is also adultery a real marriage is only reconized in the church.
7 You shall not steal
Meaning steal someones possesions, planning to steal someones belongings, destroying property, scaming, depriving someone of there rightfull earnings (money), neglect of paying bills for a long time..
8 You shall not bear false witness againts thy neighbour
you cannot gossip about someone... say lies againts someone slander... you cant bring up the truth just to purposly embaress hurt someone gravely...you must treat everyone with respect
9. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife
this meaning you cannot lust or have sexual thoughts for anyone who is not your spouse a catholic is taught to cancell any thougnts right away... for this reason all catholics should practice modesty in what they wear so they may not cause someone to lust....
10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor...
this meaning being jealous of one others possesions (envious)... desiring unjustly to posses one others goods...you cannot be greedy... commiting gluttony when other people hunger...Gluttony also being drinking to much and becoming drunk which can make you do alot of stupid things... and also being attachted to worldy matertials
