There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.
The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.
Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.
For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.
Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.
There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you exercise them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.
If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

I don't believe you. How can you eat healthy, exercise at least 5x a week and still have a gut if you are only 16? Whats eating healthy to you? What's your carb intake. To have a flat belly you have to eat very low carbs if you have big belly genetics. Lots of raw fruits and vegetables and lean meats. Easy on sauce and gravy. I don't need to tell you fast food is an absolute no no. Also do you drink? Every broad I know that drinks has a gut. Stop if you drink and don't start if you don't currently. And are you physically fit and tone or just skinny with a high percentage of body fat?
At 16 try not to be consumed with your appearance. As you get older you will realize no one is perfect. Those with perfect bodies either had surgery(ie lipo) or don't eat anything that taste good and work out 2 hrs a day. Guys don't really like chicks like that. They are never any fun. Point is it takes too much time and energy to have a perfect body. You don't wanna be a fat slob either because that shows that you are lazy and don't take pride in your appearance. Just keep eating healthy (mc donalds sometimes) keep exercising moderately, study for your SATs and start writing your college essays. By the way, most REAL guys would date a smart chick with a little tummy who has a great personality rather than a skinny snob. Hope this helps

situps and crunches wont do anything if you have fat on your belly. First you have to lose the fat by jogging or running. You should start out with 6 miles a week then build up to 12-15 miles a week. You will lose ALL your belly fat in about 2 months and then you can do situps and crunches to get great abs.

I suspect that you have a weak Transverse abdominus. This is a muscle deep in your middle that acts as a natural corset. When you do crunches remember to suck your belly in, like your trying to touch your naval to your spine (but don't go so far that it hurts) This will strengthen that muscle.
Also you should do the four legged vacueem. Get on your hands and knees, and keep your back straight like a table. Let all your breath out, and let your stomach hang. Now, draw your tummy in. Breath slowely and hold for 20 seconds. Repeat and once you feel confident with this excercise increase the time to a max of 40 seconds.
One more thing. I know you saw you eat right but do you eat whole grains? white bread tends to fatten the tummy.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.
Get started today!

my sister is the same way. she is trying to lose her's by stopping chocolate and chips and no cokes. She is getting on the treadmill 2 days a week for an hour and doing yoga 4 days a week for half an hour. Also, if you have the extra money you could get a membership to the gym and they have trainers there that could help you reach your goal. Good Luck!

Ask your Doctor about a Colon Cleanser.
Your Colon is over 5 FT Long. Thats alot of stored crap over the years.
NO Laxitives..its not the same.
Colon Cleanser removes the junk stuck to the walls.
Specially if you eat alot of meat. It takes longer for meat to digest and the fats stick to the walls of your colon.

First, as a sixteen year old girl, though you may not like it, that is still baby fat. Stress causes belly fat. Meditate, excessive, eat well, it will go away.

You think that you are fat...that is just your skin!! What is wrong with girls today, :P hehe no, seriously. Before i had my baby I was skinny and had that "fat" on my belly. It's just your skin. You'll need to almost starve yourself to lose all the belly. Not worth it. I bet you look great. Don't even worry about it. Love your body the way it is.
