My son is 13 and i started home schooling him last march. I found a very good on line school with the help of his doctors. Its through our state and its a lot like public school but he does all of his work at home. He is at a good age where he can start home schooling. Dont just enroll him in the first online school you come arcoss talk to his doctors see if they can recommend one for you or talk to the public school and see if they can recommmend one. Do you stay home if not dont even try it. YOu have to be home to be able to home school him. My sons school is 100% free, he sits at a computer for 4-5 hours a day. he has 7 teachers including a homeroom teacher. He has 6 class's, math science art social study's language arts gym computer. He sits in front of the computer and its a cam school the teachers can see and hear him and he can see and hear her..he has a full class room i believe 35 to 40 students in each class..they have principals, teachers counselors class field trips, they meet at the library once a week to do all the tests so no cheating. If my son has a problem with homework he can call one of his teachers at home until 7 pm. They even have recess.lol..free chat with the class with the teacher as monitor..gym class requires a ymca pass.I dont teach him nothing the teachers do all the teaching i just help with his class's and make sure he has done his work. I dont think you should try to teach him your self..you really need to find a good online school in your state. they provide free internet free books free school supply's free computer no school fee's. He still socializes with kids his age just more to meet from all over the state..i believe there are close to 3000 students in his school. So your best bet would to find a on line school in your state. Dont do it on your own..

I don't know where you live but you can call your local school board or check out the internet for charter schools in your state. Ohio has a great one called Buckeye Online. Most charters are free and paid for with state taxes just like public schools. You usually have a choice of online schooling or you can send your child's work in the mail. They will have teachers, books, all materials including computer, internet provider and its all for free! Try looking it up its well worth it. Don't listen to the others on here saying not to homeschool and then insulting you. The best thing I like about homeschooling is I can learn right alongside my children and it brings us closer together. We learn all the time...its the best way to live our lives...Good luck!!

Based on the poor spelling and grammar in your question, I would say that you are not equipt to provide the quality home schooling for your son that would be necessary to prepare him to succeed in an English speaking society. If the public school system available to you at this time is so unacceptable, you should actually consider moving to a different town and look for a different job in order to get him into an acceptable public school. You will cheat your son out of an education if you presume to take over his education given your own language deficiencies.

Each state is responsible for establishing guidelines and standards for students. These are in keeping with federal requirements as deemed appropriate with the Department of Education. Some states require a college degree of one or more parents who wish to educate their children past 8th grade. In order to learn more about it...contact the Board of Education for your particular area. Tell them of your interest. It may be necessary to obtain permission (depending upon your state's laws) to prevent a legal action on the part of the Board of Education. They are obligated to file a report that could result in imprisonment and or fines for excessive absenteeism. In other words, you must act quickly if the child is not attending school regularly already.

Certain subjects are required to meet certain standards for all students.

See the links below to gain some insights into your subject matter. Also, I like to use Wikipedia for science...and the CIA site for geography references.

One movie that may be beneficial to view...A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT has a portion of home schooling example. It has some mature content; use your discretion...(view it first and decide if it is alright for your teen to view).

If you are having particular problems with a specific teacher, you may need to speak with someone who handles Education Law within the legal profession...see the last link to find someone qualified and or experienced in this area of legal expertise. Good luck, you have your work cut out for you if you opt to remove him from the public school system. He may be a self starter and independently motivated; or, he could just be lazy and knows that he can "wear you down" to avoid the work.

As a parent, you have a fiduciary responsibility to make the best decision for your child.

Calvert School is very good. It has daily work, teachers you can mail your tests to for correction and ect. The best! It is expensive though.

LOL! This is a joke right? I was really rolling while reading this one. I like your sense of humor. Tell junior to skip the bus to school, if I were him I'd start running myself.
