I know the Catholics won't like this but they are the only ones that pray to Mary. No one else does and still prayer gets answered. I'm living proof of that. Jesus has led me thru some pretty tough times and brought me out victorious and I never once prayed to Mary!

Imagine you are about to sit down for food. You were working in the fields and your fingers have soil on them. Dirt is not bad, but you don't want to eat it. So you wash your hands before sitting. If you don't have running water you use a bucket and a mug. If you are by yourself, you may use the left hand to hold the mug, and only the handle gets dirty. After you wash the right hand, you then wash the left hand, and maybe the handle or the whole mug.
What if there were someone to pour the water for you? It would have been easier and saved water and time too.
We don't pray to Mary or any other saints. We only PRAY to God. Mary and the other saints intercede on our behalf. The power of prayer is great and that is why people of all religions pray.
Those who believe in intercession may believe that saints who are closer to God in a spiritual way can intercede more effectively and that Mary as the mother of Christ, believed to be the closest human being, can intercede more effectively than all the other saints.

Well, Mary is the mother of Jesus, she was pure, a virgin and strong-hearted. She was a prime example of the perfect mother. People pray to her because of this.
I'm Roman Catholic, however, some of my family are Born-Again Christians. They only pray directly to Jesus, they tell me that all prayers should only go directly to Jesus and God.

Actually, there's no point in praying to anyone. But if you are a true Christian, you would know that you don't pray to anyone but God. Mary and saints are out. Where does the Bible say you can even have saints, nevermind pray to them.

Every religion requires both Male and Female principle to be complete. Loss of the Female principle in most westernized nations is responsible for how humanity plunders Mother Earth with nary a second thought.
However, there is a glimmer of hope. Nowadays, many Protestant clerics are trying to bring back some devotion to the Mother of Christ. It probably won't be enough, because it still makes the Feminine principle second-class, but at least it's a beginning.

We don't actually pray to Mary. We talk to her and usually ask her to pray for us. Take the last line in the Hail Mary: "Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death." Also, when Jesus was being crucified Mary and Peter were there. Jesus told Peter "Behold your mother" referring to Mary. Mary is the mother of the Catholic Church. We talk to her and tell her our hurts and sorrows just as you would your real mother.

There is none. Also, confession is pointless. Why should I, a human being, full of sin, go to another human, full of sin, and confess my sins. No human is or has been perfect except for Jesus and He is the only one who can absolve us from sin. Have you ever heard the saying "From my lips to God's ears"? It's not just a saying. It's the truth. It's a sin to pray to any idol or saint. Christ is to only one worthy enough to forgive us of our sins or hear our prayers. I hope I have explained it adequately to you.

I'm not catholic, but I think it's because they believe they aren't worthy to talk directly to God/Jesus, so they need Mary to deliver the message for them.

my friend, although this is a bit lengthy, please read all of the scriptures below, because anyone who prays to Mary instead of Jesus is in a false religion. Here are the scriptures to verify for proof!
1 Ti 2:5
For there is ONE GOD, and ONE MEDIATOR between God and men, the man CHRIST JESUS;
1Co 3:11
For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Mt 24:11
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
Mt 24:24 -
For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
2Co 11:13
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
Mt 4:10
Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and HIM ONLY shalt thou serve.
Lu 4:8 - And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and HIM ONLY shalt thou serve.
Joh 3:16 -
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Re 17:15
And he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues. (WHORE REPRESENTS FALSE RELIGIONS)
Re 19:2 - For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which DID CORRUPT the earth with her fornication and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand. (FORNICATION means ADULTRY, means FALSE RELIGION),
I hope this helps you, and I pray you don't fall into the false religion (part of the mark of the beast).
1Jo 4:1
Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
