The US dollar is the safest currency in the world. It is backed up by a very strong economy, a 200+ years old democracy, an immensely huge military force and it has never defaulted on a loan.
You don't have to worry that another country is going to invade the US overnight, destroy its army, nationalize all of its industry and banks and render your dollars at hand worthless.

US Dollars is internationally recognised.
when you travel, it can 'save' you when you need some small change (when credit card is impossible), and ran out of the local currency.

u don't need US$ unless u are going to travel to US or doing business. Otherwise, use the approrpiate currency anywhere else.
