Do you hear any gastric sounds at all? Do you feel the gas move about? If so, then you're bowels are not obstructed. If you do not hear any gastric sounds, you need to contact your physician immediately. You need to increase your fiber and water intake. Buy some Citrucell and drink and glass full per the instructions at least every day for a week. For immediate relief, you could benefit from an enema. When you apply the enema, try to hold the saline or mineral oil in your rectum for as long as possible; allowing the enema to permeate your intestines. Only go to the bathroom when you can no longer hold the enema in.

Good Luck

Try an over the counter mild laxitive first. It should work overnight, and I know that seems like an awful long time especailly right now, but give it a chance to work before you go to the doctor with this. I've had problems ever since I had surgery a year and half ago and I have to take medication for problem bowels and colons called Zelnorm...ask you doctor about it , it helps alot. I also have to stay on a prescription laxative. If this had last more than a few days, and the over the counter stuff doesn't work, then go to the doctor please. Good Luck !!!

The mere fact that you are able to pass gas means there's no obstruction. But you are constipated and unable to have a bowel movement, thus the awful smelling gas.

You might need a laxative to help you with your constipation (buy over-the-counter, or go to a doctor and he/she will probably prescribe one for you). Eat plenty of fruits like papaya to soften your stool, and foods high in FIBER to keep you regular.

You may have a bowel obstruction, but you may have a condition called IBS which carry the same symptoms. They usually prescribe the medication Zelnorm for this, but talk to your doctor and there are things you can do over the counter, but be careful in using anything to self medicate because it can cause problems.

that's why you have awful gas, because you're consitpated... once you passed the BM's you should be pass the gas pains too. Call your doctor if you don't do your BM's in the next 24 hours.

I guess anything is possible, but I think you shouldn't worry.
I don't take care of myself enough either!
you need plenty of water...fiber soaks up water and helps pull your waste out smoothly. You need to start eating some flax seed bread or nuts or fruits and raisins. It's soooo important to take care of yourself(ok, i should take my own advice).
Go drink as much water as you can right now! And buy some bran cereals and muffins. Get yourself moving right away!
Good luck with this!
