My computer says I need to convert to an expensive Microsoft PowerPoint. It won't let me do a presentation, and I have to for my final in school. It says I can convert if I have some number. Is someone able to just give me that number and I put it in and it will work? I have no other options. I cannot afford to convert. It's over $100. Please help if you can.

Hi there...fellow college student/ single mother of 3 boys here!! I totally understand your frustration. Unfortunatley, no you cannot call them and ask for a number. (I'm assuming you mean calling microsoft.) That number is an authenticity key. it shows proof of ownership. microsoft is a bear when it comes to that stuff. You can see if someone has a disk with the code on it to let you borrow it...it's hard finding people that do have it though. The ONLY solutions I have for you is to get your pell grant or financial aid and purchase, maybe use a friend's computer who has powerpoint on it or the city or school library.
Good luck and I hope all works out for you!!

The number on the original box must match the number that is imprinted into the program so no other number will work. so if you have the original box or manual for the program itll be on the back if not you might want to call the company for a system default number most likely they have imprinted a default number in as well. and if they didnt you would need to buy the upgrade or the same powerpoint program. Its happened to me before im sorry

I seriously doubt your computer says you need to convert to anything. And the number you require is the product number for the illegal copy of PowerPoint that you are trying to use. Try and use a friends computer with the Power Point installed or buy one from Microsoft. No one is gonna give you that number that is illegal.

I have seen that, it is a rippoff that the computer seller promises power point, and it is only a limited use sample version.
You might be able to get a student version of PowerPoint cheaper. Check ebay or OfficeMax

I know it's hard .... hope below helps
1. Star office 5.2 (still free, but a bit old)
http://www.vollversion.de/download/star_office_52_215.html
2. StarSuite 8.0 (new - $69.95, trial period of 90 days)
http://www.sun.com/software/star/starsuite/get.jsp
(note: not too sure whether the trial is fully functional)
ps: my suggestion is that you should go for the StarSuite 8.0. Latest and guess should be reliable enough to convert you power to StarSuite format...
Regards

Oh sure, after I spent $300.00 for the Microsoft Office Suite, which includes Power Point, I am just going to give it to some kid on the Internet. lol Dream on.
Does the word "cheatng" have any meaning for you?

I think it is asking you for the code that comes with the software to install it. See if you can use another computer that has that software to get your project done. Is there a student resource center at your school?

The only option is to spend that money, there are other possible options but they'd be illegal and won't be available on this site.
Cheers!
