Why should us atheists prefer one religion over another? Both Christians and Muslims have killed people who haven't agreed with their superstition.

Precisely why would anyone wish to "show solidarity" with any other group when they are equally as guilty of oppressing others?
The "well at least "our" group will let you live" argument isn't valid when you consider that choosing the "lesser evil" means that in the end, you are still choosing evil.
I am more than willing and able to stand up for my rights against all opponents and had much rather die free than be forced to live under anyone else's dogma. A gilded cage is still a cage and therefore unacceptable.

The problems with terrorists have multiplied many times over since Bush started his "War on Terrorism". Muslims have been pushed to extremes by his invasion of Iraq, which had nothing to do with 9/11 or any other act of terrorism in the U.S.
We do not need to unite against Muslims, we need to unite against aggression.
I don't like to say that our government is lying to us for their own reasons and for profit. I just wish it weren't true. But pretending it isn't so will not make the world safer. If you believe in God, then pray that the Bush regime comes to a total end in world affairs as soon as possible.

It will also bring a death sentence if Christian 'Dominionists' succeed in transforming the US into theocracy. They are well on their way to achieving this. Christian 'Dominionists' (Reconstructionalists, Theonomists) have largely usurped the local level political apparatus of the Republican Party, and are engaged in a sub rosa process to politically motivate moderate Christians under the false cover of religious issues such as morality and family values, under cover of front organizations like the Christian Coalition, the American Family Association and the Promise Keepers. The goal is nothing less than the takeover of all elective offices in the USA.
Their doctrine comes from the Bible, starting with the term 'dominion' at Genesis 1:28... “And God said unto them, [Adam and Eve] Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have DOMINION… over every living thing.” They interpret DOMINION as: “... a supremacy in determining and directing the actions of others or in governing politically, socially, or personally.”
They want to remake the USA as a theocracy... and they are succeeding.
Its most common form, Dominionism, represents one of the most extreme forms of Fundamentalist Christianity thought. Its followers, called Dominionists, are attempting to convert the laws of United States so that they match those of the Hebrew Scriptures. They intend to achieve this by using the freedom of religion in the US to train a generation of children via home-schooling and in private Christian religious schools.

Later, their graduates will be charged with the responsibility of creating a new Bible-based political, religious and social order. One of the first tasks of this order will be to eliminate religious choice and freedom. Their eventual goal is to achieve the "Kingdom of God" in which much of the world is converted to Christianity. They feel that the power of God's word will bring about this conversion. No armed force or insurrection will be needed; in fact, they believe that there will be little opposition to their plan. People will willingly accept it. All that needs to be done is to properly explain it to them.
All religious organizations, congregations etc. other than strictly Fundamentalist Christianity would be suppressed. Nonconforming Evangelical, main line and liberal Christian religious institutions would no longer be allowed to hold services, organize, proselytize, etc. Society would revert to the laws and punishments of the Hebrew Scriptures. Any person who advocated or practiced other religious beliefs outside of their home would be tried for idolatry and executed. Blasphemy, adultery and homosexual behavior would be criminalized; those found guilty would also be executed. There are two conservative Christian pastors in Texas who have advocated the execution of all Wiccans. Ralph Reed, the executive director of the conservative public policy group the Christian Coalition has criticized Reconstructionism as "an authoritarian ideology that threatens the most basic civil liberties of a free and democratic society."
By failing to openly confront this insidious agenda, we have sown the seeds of our own destruction, while these religious wing-nuts are paving the way to Armageddon with gleeful anticipation.

Is this something new? Islam has been trying to take over the world since before the middle ages. Are they closer now?? I guess if I had to pick, I'd pick No religion. Religions are turning into mobs who would like to tell everyone else how, what, when and where to live and die.

Or maybe it would be better if fundamentalists would join ranks with agnostics and atheists and stop trying to dominate their lives and dictate morality to them.
Without west/east fundamentalism ("God is on MY side and your god is a devil!") Americans could respect each other and unite as patriots.

Here is an idea, why dont we all be AMERICANS, instead of some imaginary difference of religion. Americans, be it atheist, xian, jew, muslim, or buddhist, all together for the common good of us, instead of the common good of a certain religion.

Islam is not the enemy. The enemy is Fundamentalism, and Christians are equally as guilty of that as Muslims are.
