Dr Merobe, I wish all the Muslims followed your path , pray for your enemy and opponents and ignore them rather than killing them. You are the Real prophet , not that Nabi who lived in cave.

Dr. Merobe,

If all muslims reflects on your way of thinking, I sincerely believe that these problems would have stopped existing. But how many really think the way you do? Just look at the reactions around the world and still muslim leaders are trying to convince them to go on just short of killing Christians. When the Da vinci code came out it was a slap on the face of christianity, but did you see people comdemning the author or much less demanded for his arrest or death? But why then are your leaders try to swell something that is relatively easy to manage just for peace to reign? Why can't they prove that what the pope commented was wrong instead of calling him pig and whatever they like to? Are you convinced that your religion is a religion of peace based on what we see now? I am asking you a straight question because I see that you seemed to be a very good man and muslim. I wish you good Dr. Merobe, for I can sense that you possess a good muslim heart.

Dear Confused,

Why would you want to prove that Muslims should be despised? Don't you think the Spanish Inquisition could be used against Christianity in the same way? Every religion has fundamentalists who want to kill or conquer the non-believers. What did Cortez do in Central America? In the name of what religion? (Clue: Getting off his ship the first time, he carried both the cross and a sword) If you love humanity, you can call yourself a Christian. If you hate people and their beliefs without even understanding their beliefs, that makes you no better than the terrorists. Dropping bombs from airplanes is not any more noble than wearing a bomb on your belt.

Do you have love in your heart and spirit? Or is it only love for yourself and those who agree with you?

This is NOT the time, in our world today, to be throwing fuel on a fire that's ragging out of control in many countries around the globe. This IS the time to be doing everything we can to build understanding between the three major monotheistic religions. The survival of many people, civilians and soldiers alike, depend on it.

The Pope made a grave mistake. If he did not agree with the statements he quoted, he should have said so at the time; distancing himself from them with a counter statement of his own. He did not. He apologized after the fact. That's like someone saying, "You're fat and ugly." Then waiting for the inevitable response and following it with, "Just joking!"

He is the religious leader of 1 billion Catholics. He should not only have known better given the cartoon incident, he should have used his brain to think the entire thing through to the inevitable conclusion.

I've been hoping and praying that isn't true, at least not universally true. I really think that when Muhammed began teaching his new message from God, that Islam was a peaceful religion. I think that it still is peaceful in much of the world and to many of its followers. But before the prophet- peace be upon him- finished his teaching, it became a political force and that newly united force went to war. Since that time, Arabia has had a religion-based government and that is what has led to the current situation.
In the US, we are forbidden by our constitution to make any laws regarding religion, but we are-and need to be- allowed to make laws to keep our country peaceful. But there is still a major problem. We have soldiers and many of those soldiers want to call upon God for strength, so we haven't made a law that says that we cannot and will not accept the idea of religious violence.
That is a step that we may have to take. We may have to decide as a nation that we will continue to accept all forms of worshipping God- or not worshipping- but that we will not accept violence no matter what excuse people give for it.
It makes me think about good and evil and about how to look objectively at which side I am on. Some would say that the battle is about liberty versus strict religious rule and that Americans are too loose in their morals. They may have a point there. But I know in my heart that if the issue is peace versus killing, that it is peace that is good and killing that is evil.
But the person who kills can always silence the voice of peace.
I am very afraid for the world. In religious terms known to both Muslims and to Christians, we are pushing the world toward Judgment Day.
I know you are trying to say what you think is right, but I still can't help feeling that it is better not to hate. Hate can kill not only our bodies, but our souls as well. I know some nice Muslims, ordinary people like anyone else, people who love peace and only want a chance to live and raise a family. Unfortunately the people with guns and bombs speak with a louder voice.
The early verses of Muslim scripture are about peace, love for God, helping the poor, personal responsibility. It is the verses written later- after the Prophet-peace be upon him- and his followers took to battle- where the language turns violent and intolerant.
The basic problem of all religions is this: it's all theoretical until a loved one goes to heaven. At that point the pain of the loss is made tolerable by "knowing" that according to your religion, your loved one is in heaven. There are other important "life-event rituals" that solidify people's faith, but none quite so powerful as a funeral. Once your religion sends a beloved grandmother to heaven, you can't turn away from it. And so every word in your good book has to be 100% true to protect you from the pain of loss. It is the same for Muslims as it is for us. Add some racism and cover it with politics and you have a powerful force for doing wrong and feeling justified.
And that's what we are talking about: justification.
You will see the conflict the way you see it. There is nothing else you can do. I can only advise that you be aware of yourself and ask whether you also are justifying bad actions.
Because God actually lives in the hearts of people and you can hear the voice of God if you learn how to listen. But there is an evil principal that also tries to speak to you. It takes a lot of care to discern the difference.
May you be blessed with understanding.

Yeah the truth has been known for hundreds of years. It is nuts that the world has to keep relearning that islam is a terrorist religion. Did you check out their declaration of war on Americans the other day? nice folks with all that neck cutting stuff..but they do offer the opportunity to convert or be killed. Hmmm isnt that what they are pissed off about?

I think muslims brains must hurt from trying to keep it all straight.

This is true, it like every other religion that is forced on people, christianity was like this in middle ages, just look at the inquisition, the thing is that we now dont force others to believe in our religion but with Islam they do, they believe that their religion is the best and that everyone should either be a follower or die.

Yes, and 14th century documents also say that the world is flat and if you sail to far you will fall off of the edge. See how reliable 14th century documents are? I don't trust our amazingly pitiful president either.

To all my Muslim brothers and sisters online here. I think the best solution to the hated question being repeated posted here is just to be patient and be tolerance. Dun get upset about their comments. We know it ourselves that Islam is not about violence. Just ignore these fools and let us go about doing other things tat are more important than trying to convince these people about our religion. We cannot change them if they would not want to change themselves.

Just pray to Him for guidance. Ramadhan is around the corner, pray to Him for the safety of other Muslims and also to the other people from diff races and religion. And pray for peace. Those radical muslims will get their retribution here or the life-after. All we can do is pray. And hope for the best.

Amin!

I have known people that have grown up in the middle east and they breed hate over there. Hate of Americans AND Christians. There are parts of the koran that support that. Parts about sweeping out the infidel and the like.

Show us a quote from the document. Then your argument will be less emotionally charged and full of hatred.
